Well about 3 times or so after the car has been sitting a few hours I try to start and it won't turn over just makes the noise like it wants to. I turn the key off and then the second time it always starts.
Now today I was sitting in a drive-thru the car in front moves so i go to hit the gas. The car lunges forward and dies like if I was driving a manual and didn't know how to take off. The service engine light pops on. I start the car the service engine light turns off and then I drive forward. The car does a weird 1,2,1 shift and then stays at 1. Well I drive home and everything is just fine.
I like the car a lot, but I don't like that I am having problems. I am going to flash back to stock and put the stock pill back in. I really don't want to have to do that but if I am going to take it in for service I don't want them to blame anything on the pill and flash and void any warranty. Since the car was bought used with around 22K miles on it when I bought in August I would just say I never knew that it was ever flashed if they say anything.
I would really like your guys input and help on this. Is this best route to flash back to stock and then make an appointment with the dealer? The closest dealer is around 3 1/2 hours away so I don't want to waste a trip to have them tell me they can't replicate anything.

I THINK there was a recall for the 09's to get the TCU re flashed. Maybe that is your problem, it might have never been done before your bought your car.

I don't think that's the problem. The "recall" that you're talking about is probably the cold weather reflash TSB(Technical Service Bulletin) that was issued a while back, but it is not the same thing as a "recall", so the dealer is not required to do it if they don't feel like it's necessary. I drive an 09 Ralliart as well, and I haven't had this particular reflash done to my car yet, but it's been running fine without any problems or check engine lights.Originally Posted by chlucero

I will give it until this weekend. If it does anything else I will have to flash it back to stock to make an appointment with the dealership.
If I do have to put the stock pill back in this weekend, does it matter which way the pill faces. It is not like the GST pill which doesn't seem to matter which direction it faces.
I hope I don't have to change it out. I really like the added power.

Im on the 93oct v2 map with pill and I have experienced the starting issue also. I'm not sure if this is related to tune and pill but if anyone has any advice on what to do about this- it would be great

its been covered a lot already...turn ignition to acc wait for the center dash to light up then turn key
What about my car just dying in the drive-thru? It lunged forward from a stop and then died when i tried to give it some gas, just like a manual trans would do if you don't know how to take off from a stop and you kill it.

i wouldn't freak out too much...if it consistently happens and you know how to replicate it then go to the dealer. if it only happens randomly its pointless to make a 3.5 hour drive because the dealer wont do anything for you unless they can have it happen to them.
Yeah sounds like a plan I just hate that feeling in the back of my mind wondering if/when it will happen.
If it happens again I will also go back to my stock map/pill and see it it happens again.
