Hard pipes

Im getting a evo x IC in a week or to with a upper pipe, for know im going to leave it like that in the future im thinking about doing hard pipes, will they do anything for performance, and if i get it tuned before the hard pipes and put them on will it mess up my afr or anything?

Hard pipes are going to be a larger diameter and could affect AFR a bit...why not wait to tune until after you have all your parts? You'll get more from your tune that way.

The hard pipes shouldn't affect your AFR's at all since no "new" air is getting into the system. The only thing the hard pipes will do is help move hot air away from the turbo a bit quicker. Technically, going to an evo x IC doesn't require a tune, so save your money and get a tune after you get the hard pipes.

Are you sure that even the pipes would require a tune?

From one I understand, there could only be a very minor gain from the tune, definitely not worth the cost of it.

He said he was getting the IC first, so getting a tune after the hard pipes would be based on the whole setup.

I ran my car with hard IC pipes and an EVO X IC with no problems. I would say that you can run this setup without getting a tune (you shouldn't need one unless you create a boost leak), but others might disagree.

Just a word of warning: The cone filters and new MAF housings REALLY **** with AFRs. Mine were off by almost 15% with the UR SRI.

hes running an evo x maf housing with a filter untuned lllllooolllll and is worried about the hard pipes being an issue?

Sir, you need to get tuned now if you have this "maf" and "cone" mod on the car. The evo maf is a larger diameter and is/will throw your arf off significantly.

What happened to your wicked awesome noise mod of just removing the snorkle and front of the air box leaving the filter exposed so you could hear it sucking air?

as for the Original question. No, switching piping will not effect your ARF enough to require a tune. It is post maf and the air is already accounted for.
