there is a rivalry between evo and sti, but i dont think there is much hate going around. Evo owners respect Sti owners and vice versa. Both are sweet awd monsters.

 

I agree with this. The Mustang and the Civic are so popular they are regularly put up against everything. They both have such a huge aftermarket and a huge following so therefore they have a higher dbag quotient then any other group that will be willing to compare their car to anything out there.

No matter what car the discussion is about, somebody is going to come along and say they can "buy X car for $Y cheaper and spend the difference in mods and beat the crap out of it." Eventually the guy with the $1500 Fox body or Civic with 800whp that runs 9's comes along and enters the conversation and pisses everybody off. Then, the owner of the more expensive car says, "Yeah, but you're still driving a POS (Mustang/Civic) and I'm driving a such-and-such and I get laid more because of it."

Hilarity ensues and the thread gets locked.

I agree 100% with this post. Subie and Mitsu guys will have a bit of a rivalry when put together when nobody else is around. But if a dbag in a Mustang or a Civic Si shows up, you'd be suprised how fast the subie-mitsu rivalry ends.

Generally where I live, the Subie drivers and Mitsu drivers tend to stick with the other good imports. For example, my group of cars includes my RA, another RA, 2 R32 Skylines, an STi, a WRX, an S14 Silvia, a 350z, an Audi S4, a BMW 335i, and a built VR6 swapped Golf. We may have a friendly rivalry between each other, but can all agree that we HATE ricer civics and stangs (not to mention ricer Sunfires/Cavaliers/Cobalts/G5s), and will gang up on anyone who owns one and is a dbag.

 

Quite bashin the civics....lol Im just playin my EP3 Si is bone stock and its my wifes dd. Theyre really nice cars until the wrong people get their hands on them kinda like a dsm.

 

I've built several stangs over the years. The only rivalry between stangs and vettes is in vette owners heads. They are not even in the same class.

Vette owners just get a little salty when a cheap modified pony car blows their doors off while spinning the tires through 4th gear...been there, done that.

The vette owner then creates a rivalry in their mind to help justify the embarrassment - sad really.

AMEN!! Sorry but this is the damn truth!!! But don't get me wrong...I am a car guy myself but these 2 cars are far in comparisons!!! It is like comparing oranges to apples. As others mentioned before...

Pony cars.....
Mustang vs Camaro (or Firebird or T/A- even thou they're awesome looking) vs Challenger vs Supra and the likes of RWD in same playing field

Upper level cars...
Vettes vs GT-R32 vs Ferrari vs Lambo vs Porsche vs similar cars along the way.

Import cars (there is a ton of different variations)
EVO vs STI, which makes a lot of sense to being AWD vs AWD
Civic vs who else..Civics!! (just busting ***** here)

As I have explained above mentioned, this REALLY compares in these kinds of variations or equal values.


Can someone agree on this or still have disagreements??? But it is really to each of their own opinions.

BTW...I am a previous owner of a 93 Saleen Mustang and surely miss her. I am still in search of another foxbody with a Terminator motor or the GT 500 motor in them. And I love my RA!!

Agreed Mustang vs everyone LOL

In my opinion the Mustang is a benchmark race for most import guys, especially Honda/Acura owners.

People are often guilty of comparing their cars to mustangs, I have done it. How many times have you heard this conversation. "nice car is it fast? well I can beat a mustang/cobra etc."

I have a turbocharged GT and yes it is wicked fast, and yes I can smoke most corvettes in a straight line only LOL. With that being said I love my EVO for entirely different reasons.

I would even go as far as to say that the EVO has become the benchmark that most import guys feel that if they can beat one then they can call themselves fast.

Vette vs mustang though...... I don't know about that.
I would say definitely Mustang vs camaro I have one of those too LOL I am confused huh?

Also I would like to point out that NON-AWD racers no matter what above all else FEAR AWD on the street. I know I do, and have also instilled that fear in others. I had my EVO 8 for a week before I crushed the local turbo honda that was beating up on everybody, he just couldn't hold up against the launch....

Now the srt4 guys have big heads. Well at least the ones out here in chicago area. Majority of them are d bags

 

Almost everyone that I know that mods an SRT4 is a d bag LOL

 

Its too bad cause i really like the SRT4s... saw a few in black mmmmmmmm

 

Most of those have blown up and are off the streets around here. I actually perk up when I see one occasionally, like once every other month or so.

 

I TRY to give respect to all performance cars.....but it never fails to run into a D-bag that has no REAL concept of respect/power.....then if the situation is right OWNAGE is bestowed on....then the typical hurried left or right turn on the next street to avoid embarrassment.....from a 4 banger . NEVER FAILS !
