Used exhaust question

Ive found a used exhaust locally. What should i look for when i go to view it...and what parts should come with it ..ie gaskets?

Any info on buying a used exhaust would be greatly appreciated.! Thank you

Oh also...most exhausts vary in price but are generally in the same range. Whats a good deal if this exhaust were about 800 new?

Who makes the exhaust? How "used" is it?

Check the brand name, it should be stamped somewhere on the exhaust. Figure out what it's actually worth when new, not what the seller tells you it's worth.

The exhaust should come with all gaskets and installation hardware, i.e. hangers, bolts, nuts, lock washers, springs if springbolts are used, etc. If it was me I'd look into replacing the gaskets with fresh ones, cheap to do and will help you avoid leaks.

I'd also go over the entire exhaust and check for black carbon on the outside of it, this will indicate if there is any leaks in the system itself. Look for excessive carbon buildup inside the exhaust. Check also for road rash.

I wouldn't pay more than 500 for a used exhaust that was 800 new, if it was in PERFECT condition. With minor road rash, I'd give 300. With road rash totalling more than 2 square inches over the entire exhaust, I wouldn't buy it.

Best thing to do is, find out what it is, the mileage, damage, and let everyone on here give you a opinion and get a collective answer of yes or no and then make ur decision

Ok. The exhaust is a CP-E catback. Comes with no gaskets, bolts or anything accessories that i saw. Exhaust is in good shape. KM's are unknown because the dealership took this exhaust off a used ralliart and put on an OEM for the new buyer, as the CP-E was to loud.

Carbon build up on the outside i did not see, as for the inside i didnt check. Brand new the exhaust is $757....there asking 600. I got them to 500 thus far.

You can get a brand new DC Sports exhaust for about $500, so I don't think it's wise buy a used CP-E unless you really like the sound and don't mind the loudness.

DC sports eh? Could u send me a link?

Also im really set on BORLA. IF the price was right i would take the CP-E (used). But as of now without right parts ect, i think its not worth it.

I may take the advice and offer 300$ for the exhaust.

CP-E actually has an annual sale that if you catch it will actually get you the exhaust for $600-650 brand new from them. if the used catback is in good shape, i'd offer 450 for the catback, NEW gaskets, and install. they'll probably go for it if you've got the cash in-hand.

CP-E is probably my favorite sounding exhaust, which is why i've got one, but be prepared because it is loud and mean. if youre looking for something with a milder tone definitely check out that DC exhaust for the price

The gasket is about $5 or less new from your local auto store. You need 3 band clamps, U clamps or some clamp to connect the pipes, they also go for $5 or less. There are 2 bolts that you reuse from your existing connection to your cat, and then 3 rubber hangers you hang the exhaust from reuse it from your car.

Thats all you need to attach the CP-E CBE onto your stock RA exhaust. Hope that helped with your decision.

If you were really set on BORLA, I don't think the DC will be loud enough for you.

Im beginning to think i should just buy a brand new one. I know im spending a little more but everything on this car so far has been done proper and bought new.

On that note i actually went ahead and tryed to order to BORLA !, BUT i realized they don't ship to Canada, or atleast i could not find the option.

Heres the site i found. Does anyone recommend this distributor?

http://www.autocityimports.com/2009-...st-p-8915.html

They have it for 832$ FREE shipping. Best price i could find.

I know where you can get a Magnaflow brand new for 500.00. I agree with not paying more than 300.00.

I think I am going with the Magnaflow because it sounds a little deeper and growls more than the DC. Full 3" system too with duel exit.
