I hear that same sound, but it is in-between gear changes that I hear it.

That is the BEST sound in the world (not even being sarcastic). That is your tranny no doubt, and its completely normal. Its a similar sound to what crazy #$@ race cars make too. I can hear my in 4th pretty good and when giving it the beans I can hear it hella loud.

That noise comes from the gears in the transmission and the way they mesh together. If you have ever looked at a gear the groves are curved. That helps with REDUCING noise and vibrations that can cause that "siren" sound. More aggressive transmissions use gear grooves that are more straight which INCREASES noise and vibrations but offers better performance.

ehhh, ive taken my back seats out for the track and have them out right now driving around waiting on my fuel pump kit and it sounds like its coming from the fuel pump. i hear it when i am going all out or if i am sitting in place for awhile and press the gas to go. would make since bc those are the times it sucks in more fuel. most likely you shift at a lower rpm than the car shifts itself in auto. hints hearing the whine more bc higher rpm=more fuel consumption.

just my input
good luck

^^ it doesnt do it in shift mode regardless of how high i let the rpms go, it only does it in auto. and i PM'd SSP about this and they said its not the transmission because the tranny doesnt know when its in auto or shift since thats an electrical thing

the siren sound i gotcha now it took me a while to understand what the heck u were talking about. It makes that wheeeeeeeeeeeeee sound when slowing down and in some lower gears alot. Perfectly normal. Mine does it all the time, everyone thinks its the turbo spooling down. i LOVE the sound, makes me feel like a badass. But ya anyways perfectly normal and i have done every service on it at 3k miles and im at 17 atm. Hope this helps you a bit

because the car is in control of its gearing down, and you are not. Thats my assumption. Maybe wrong but im going with how a manual car slowly gears down and you here alot of engine noise if you dont push the clutch in, same thing here your hearing the tranny cuz it must be engaged constantly and the ecu is in control of the cars declining acceleration

Like I always say, if you guys are hearing all these "noises" coming from your car, then it simply means that you don't have your stereo turned up loud enough. Crank the tunes, drive the car hard, and stop worrying so much....
