siren sound only when in normal

hey guys, I noticed around 2-3k rpm I hear a siren sound, it goes away during shift and comes back right before it wants to shift. I noticed that if i put it over into shift mode the sound goes away but if i push it back into normal it comes back. is this normal? i have 26k on the odo and havent changed the tranny fluid yet. Btw i notice this mostly in 2-3-4th gears and yes it goes louder the faster I go or quieter

Pull over and let the ambulance by....

seriously what is a siren sound? As in a sound the car is making as a warning sound or are you trying to describe a mechanical sound.

Yeah, I've heard the siren sound too, and for some reason it's always followed by a man in a blue uniform walking up to my car window and handing me a SPEEDING TICKET

It's mostly the SST. Mine also does it. Heard that a lot of them do it, it's the sound produced by the gears inside the tranny.. Flushing your oil might help it.

I have heard this same "siren" since day one. Based upon the timing of said sound, I naturally assumed it had to do with the transmission.

When I start it up in the really cold (like around -13C or below), it makes this funny sound like a UFO coming in. I assumed it was the turbo cause once the cars warmed up after about 3-4 minutes it's gone.

ya some ppl before told me it was a cold turbo but it still comes after hr or so of driving so im thinking its definitly the transmission. its very hard to hear but here is a clip

It also sounds to me like turbo whine.

I hear something similar, especially when the car is cold. It's pitch changes with the RPMs and does it regardless of being in Manual/Auto, Sport/Normal.

cold turbo or cold transmission .. once i drove the car in a hurry (not warmed up) it as like -32C and it sounded like turbo whine but from every possible angle :O

after the car rolled for 10-15 min, it was ok.. so i was assuming its the "cold" effect..

That's the transmission gear noise. I have the exact same noise. Had my fluid dropped and refilled under warranty (turned out there was too much fluid and had vibrations) and the noise is less loud now, but still present. Before, with too much oil, it was really loud. Enough to be really annoying.
