My recommendation for learning about the specifics about turbocharged vehicles is to start with the Wikipedia page on the topic. I'd also recommend you read the turbo tech section on the Garrett turbo website. Our cars don't use Garrett turbos, but the specifics remain the same. Read all three tech articles on that site, even tho turbo tech 103 might give even the best of us a headache.

edit: If do the equations in turbo tech 103 and understand what they mean, you'll suddenly be able to call b.s. on those people who like to lie about how much power their cars make, and refuse to show you an actual dyno chart

Once you're armed with that info, the stuff on this site will seem much less difficult to follow. Go through a couple of info threads on this site (starting with the link in NFSlancerRA's sig) and you'll have a good understanding of what each part does to make power, and how each of them work.

Good luck, and welcome!

Also, if this is your daily driver do NOT go cold air intake. With the way they work on these cars is they go deep to the bottom of the car and sucks up all the much needed cool air from your radiator. Not only that, it sucks up water from the ground, and this will destroy your engine extremely fast. This is common with evo x and ralliarts. Go sri for the safety of your car.

Also if your going to upgrade your exhaust, get a hi flow cat and downpipe as well.

Truth,

Starting on a "project car" without a clear plan as to where you want to end up is a sure way to spend way too much money on a vehicle you end up not enjoying very much.

Yes, the stock catback actually isn't bad at all. I still run the 100% stock catback (with 02-downpipe and mini-muffler testpipe) on my personal RA and it's outputting 400hp. (370whp on a Mustang dyno)

The best part about it is the car is truly not any louder then when it was stock.

Ah, I forgot to mention. Getting a SRI is pretty pointless if your going to run your stock turbo. The gains aren't as much as if you were to do a turbo swap for a bigger one. Until then, a K&N drop in filter will do perfectly as well as help gas mileage

While its awesome how easy it is to make power from this car, you will quickly have more power than the stock suspension was designed for. Do yourself a favor and improve the handling of the car; you don't want to end up in a tree/ditch/living room cuz the car couldn't control the power

highly suggest this

I wish I worked on my suspension first...modding power is just too addicting and I just want to get it to where I want it, because I hate how much body roll there is. just doesn't match up well to how much more power I'm putting out

and much safer for warranty purposes, and gives you plenty of more time to read up on power mods to make the right decision

Hold off putting your Evo X bov on, the stock one is perfect for the current turbo on the car and holds ALL the boost it produces. Switch to the Evo X bov when you do the turbo swap, you don't want to put miles on the bov for a small turbo.

I disagree. Put the Evo X BOV on at the same time that you get the car tuned(even if you do a tune on the stock turbo before doing the Evo x turbo swap), because it's much better quality than the stock plastic POS...

From many resources you'll find that the stock plastic bov is enough for the stock turbo on the ralliart. Many aftermarket businesses wont mind telling you to get an evo x bov on your stock turbo only if you want to be cool. Although the stock plastic bov is "crap" so is the stock turbo. The only serious issue on the car period is the stock fmic. The amount of heat it produces is insane.
