It might be confusion about their "normal" warranty

On non-turbo Mitsubishi's, they have a 10yr/100k mile Powertrain Warranty. If the title is transferred, the second owner only gets a 5yr/60k warranty.

On turbo'd Mitsu's, the powertrain is already 5yr/60k

if the only owner was the dealer i would strongly suggest you to stay away from it cause that mean the car was used as a demo to one of the dealerships employees. ive worked at mitsubishi before and these demos never get warmed up and get beaten up real bad. and OP id say go for it if its stock and you are ready to do a full service on it.

same. I work sales at a Mitsu dealership right now. Someone who decides to take a Ralliart as a demo probably means he couldn't afford to buy one, and any management who decides to let a Ralliart go as a demo car is stupid. Overall that dealership is probably run by idiots. Our demo's are Lancer, Outlander and Outlander Sport ES's.

As for the OP, it's up to you if you want to take the basic risks of buying used. The SST is a great transmission despite the haters, but it is a bit delicate. With all the low APR's and incentives with new, along with the piece of mind with a new SST over a possibly abused one, I would go with a new.

Fully transferable as well.

Thanks guys for setting me straight on this. I could have sworn my dealer told me 3/36 on everything. Its always good to find out a warranty is for longer than expected. I probably should have read the book, but honestly who actually reads the book other than for oil recommendations and such?????

I miss quoted myself when I said it was owned by the dealer I 'believe' it was owned by the dealer since, according to carfax it arrived at the dealership one day and was sold the next... The car looks really clean, and has a strong tranny according to the mechanic. If it isn't what I expect everything can be reversed. But yes, I will be careful about this one.
Main thing though, it was traded in at a Chevy dealership so I could assume it was a real buyer and not a dealer.

Is it normal that it was auctioned off to the current dealership?

What probably happened is the car was a repo by the bank, and your dealer bought it at the auction. Dealers get most of their used cars from auctions, it's not unusual.

Ok so heres a update. I BOUGHT IT! Yay im so happy to have a once again. I also purchased a CNA warranty for 4/100k miles, bumper to bumper.
So, I was real excited to "tune" her when she got home. But when I was at the dealer I noticed somebody welded a custom cat-back with a flowmaster on it. I knew it was on there and the quality is great, but how am I supposed to tune with a GST basemap? The thead has over 1,500 replys so sorry im not looking through all that. Is my best best to find a stock exhaust? Please dont forget this is my wife and I's only car and want to be conservitive on upgrades, we just want the better gas mileage! Help!

Bryan has stated the tunes will work with a catback system. You should check to make sure the original downpipe and cat are still there because these will make your engine run lean on the basemaps.

Roger that, good call. When cats and dogs stop falling I will wax her and check out her piping.

you are absolutely right. it is 3/36. you would need to buy an extended warranty. i coughed up almost $2000 to take it to 10/100 everything warranty. power train, bumper to bumper yada yada

Thanks man, its so nice to have a nice car again. It does have the stock downpipe and it is only a axle back. So I guess i am ordering my cable today.

Anybody have used CNA for warranties before? It seemed good when I bought the car and dont wanna worry about problems. Thanks!
