Used Ralliart
Used Ralliart
Ok so today I test drove a 09 Ralliart. It had the Recaros and Rockford system. It drove great but it has 44k miles. Is the SST tranny good for alot of miles. I sure dont plan on beating her up, just want a fast reliable car. They got the price down to 18,700 which is 3k under book. The carfax is also clean, so im just wondering is this a good deal. It will be the only car me and my wife share. Thanks!
You talking about factory warranty? The small car dealer I am purchacing it from doesn't give a warranty. Unless I opt to pay more for some aftermarket warranty. Im sure it will grow on me.
plan on doing a major service at that mileage... sst service alone will cost several hundred if you do it yourself (fluid and filter)... even if the dealer says it's all been done... can't trust a car dealer any further than you can throw them. If it were me I would want to have at least 500 cash to dump into maintenance items day 1 of ownership.
Always do your research on a car like this before you buy it. We have all seen those race/accident magnet kids out there whose mom and dad bought them a faster car than the could handle and the car got the hell beatten out of it. You should hopefully be fine but always plan on there needing to be maintenance when you buy a used vehicle. As for checking about the modding, that is a good idea. Some people start modding a car and get rid of all kinds of stuff from the original car. But when they want get rid of it, they rush to find a way to make it back to, or at least appear, stock. this can cause someone to cut some corners and not switch back correctly and cause some headaches for you down the line. All said and done, do your research and think before you buy something. These are great cars and I love mine, would recommend to anyone.
You might still want to look into an extended warranty, though. I, for one, wouldn't want to spend almost $20k on a car and not have a warranty (regardless of make or model).

People like to bag on Mitsu's warranty, but one good thing about it: the warranty is for the car, not the owner. That car is still under warranty (albeit, a short one).

Both my 2010 RA and my Evo has/had 5yr/60k Powertrain warranty.
The 2009 also has a 5yr/60k powertrain warranty.
Fully transferable as well.

I think you are confused. The bumper-to-bumper warranty on the RA/Evo is 3yr/36k miles. The powertrain warranty is 5yr/60,000 miles.
IIRC of course, i know for a fact one portion is non transferable and I'm 99% sure it is the extended power train portion.
Look at that link I posted, the 5yr/60k powertrain is transferable. As are the others.
The warranty is transferrable I checked before I bought mine with around 21K miles on it. You can always buy a nice extended warranty if you are really that worried. I had a route 66 warranty that would extend my last car to 100K miles or 5 years. Pretty much replaces everything for only around 1200. Plus when I sold my last car I could either transfer the balance or get a nice check back.
