Have you tried the tapping method? Works great and as far as I know it does no harm to the transmission.

this was the technique i used when all hell broke loose. I reved till about 2700 rpm (tapping the gas), BUT when i nailed the gas to go, instead of the gears engaing @ 2700 rpm they spiked to 6000rpm. Thats when my tranny just stopped, lights came one for a moment ect....

To all those ralliart owners, the gas tapping method is not FULL PROOF. Its probably the safest method, but remember our cars were not designed with a launch system.

Just a quick question...

Were you still running on Bryan's GST "2.6 beta" ROM?

Okay. Using beta version maps for launch practice - that's pretty aggressive beta testing! Don't worry, I'm not judging - I was on track running v2.6 last week, hehe.

Bear in mind that Bryan was (is) primarily working on things like throttle response changes and SST-related tuning... both of which are very much involved in standing start takeoff.

Indeed, one of the main reasons we were all doing the crazy tap-dance to launch was the terrible delay between flooring it and actually going anywhere at speed.

The v2.6 beta is a world away from that. If you go to 60% throttle and hold that through first gear, the RA will shoot out of the blocks a lot faster than prior ROMs did with 100% throttle.

Personally, I wonder if you really got the SST to the 130C "slow down" temp at all... or if you just tripped a "WTF IS THE DRIVER DOING TO MY ACCEL PEDAL??" exception... and it pulled the eject cord.

Maybe v2.6 (once it's finally "formally" released) should have a parental advisory sticker about tap-the-pedal launching.

I actually think this is great beta-testing feedback. I'm certainly not game to try this style of takeoff on v2.6 beta, so you're an official launch-test guinea pig!

So are you suggesting that you can just avoid brake boosting, and instead use 60% throttle until you are moving a bit, then hammer down?

Thats basically what happened. My tranny said exactly that "WTF!?!?". Im gonna hit back to V2.5 for now some time today for a little while.

I agree my tranny did not over heat but instead just pulled the cord so it didnt malfuncation on me.

If you where tapping at 2700 and then went WOT and the clutches slipped to 6000, you would be amazed at how much heat that would generate quickly.

Quickly!. It was almost instant, from then the clutched slipped to the car stopped and symbols coming on!

I just reflashed back to V2.5. I for some reason love the 2.5 version. It suits me quite well!!

I think you will like the final v2.6 when it comes out. I'm addressing things like this.

ETA? No rush, but I'm looking to use your map again for a base for a full tune.

That's my plan as well. I really want the faster acceleration from a dead stop as well as the smoother shifting. My current custom tune was based off one of Bryan's very first GST 93 octane with boostpill basemaps, so it doesn't have any of the current upgrades that Bryan has incorporated into the newer versions.

Ah, so the fun of copying and merging maps awaits you too!

For now V2.5 is my main map, but im very interested and excited to see what Bryan's coming out with as a final product!

I would like to add that another thing i noticed (before i went back to V2.5) that when i slammed the gas off the line the revs spiked WITHOUT launching. It did it on its own. The gears did not catch well from a dead stop goign WOT. Again this was testing info from the beta V2.6

Maybe I should start asking for kick backs from the tuners using my maps as their bases.
