Wary about power mods until higher milage?

is anyone else waiting until they get their RA up to higher milage to do power mods? Speaking from the perspective of one with tuition bills, I'd rather not void my motor/powertrain warranty this early in my car's life (~11k miles). Hence I am waiting to do intercooler/ pipes/ tune. Frankly, if the SST or something goes wrong and I've voided the motor warranty, I have a lot more to lose than just waiting 2 years before modding (when i'm closer to the milage of warranty expiration). Anyone else being conservative with their mods for this reason? I feel like i'm on the only one when I see all these 2010 and 2011 RA's that are heavily tuned

I'm with you - waiting on power mods until I've expired most/all of my warranty.

Also trying to save for a house, but hey, I'd still be just doing minor suspension/visual mods for now anyway even if that weren't the case .

Yeah... me too.

Your car is excellent! Me likee. The wing works on your car - normally they look P*I*M*P :P to me. (My $.02 worth)...

I see some ideas i plan to integrate into my plan now... HHHmmm.

Count me in that boat as well. What I've done so far isn't really big:

Aftermarket Wheels / Tires
Cobb AP with the conserative stage 1 on 93 Octane

Next up:

Swift Lowering Springs (this Friday)
DC dual exhaust Catback
Wing Delete
Painting Calipers (props to Veronica)

... as you can see, not really going to do anything much to the performance...

Big dreams with small cashflow

I did the GST tune and pill and Evo X BPV and thats enough power for me since I don't take it to the track or anything. The rest of my mods will be suspension and brake related. I need to keep this car for another 8 years, so the less wear and tear on the engine/transmission the better.

That wing does look nice! Does the stock VIII wing just bolt on to the factory holes or did you have to redrill more holes to the boot lid?

I was looking into the Evo 8/9 wings and I think it will need some holes to be plugged/drilled. I could be off though.

it needs one extra hole on each side, and one of the OEM holes go unused. i used CF dinoc to cover it up and it goes well with the inside CF of the evo 8 wing

I was definitely wary of doing any mods until I got some mileage on my car.

I waited until it had 200 miles before I ordered the Cobb AP, and then waited until it got up to almost 1000 before I had the exhaust replaced.

So now it is up to 4,700, and I have run out of performance ideas, so it must be time to put it on the auction block.

Just kidding, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being conservative. But on the other hand these cars sure do seem to be a lot more responsive and fun to drive when you give them a little more A$$.

But your results may vary...

I'm also waiting until I'm out of warranty to make any modifications that aren't easily reversible. I did buy a CBE and also plan to lower the car a bit. Other than that I don't plan to do much else.

Other than that I've been buying parts when they come up for cheap on here like a X intercooler and BPV. I've been running up the miles pretty quickly so I'm betting that I'll be out of warranty in less than 18 months. Still though it's hard looking at the parts and not installing them.
