sounds like your timing chain broke, how many miles? But do the basics, check for spark, fuel and compression.

If you can take off your oil cap and have someone crank the engine check for cam movement.

Catalyst efficiency codes wouldn't cause a no start problem unless your cat was completely plugged.

I have 45k. I have spark, and fuel. Don't have a compression tester, I'll have to find one. This morning i was leaving for work, it started for a sec then it died. Then it wouldn't turn over.

I was about 20 seconds away from dragging your thread to the trash for using such a worthless title, but since you up the creek I'll be nice and change it for you, next time please at least try and use a relevant thread title.

Doesn't sound good from the video... sounds like the valves are all stuck open as unlikely as that may be.

I had that same sound coming from a Honda that I used to have, was the timing belt tensioner. My vote agrees with stfuad... timing chain.

Pulled the plugs, cleared cylinders and nothing. Checked fuel pump, all good there and still nothing. Checked spark, still nothing. Opened up oil cap and all seemed good with the cams. My buddy came over with his Launch scanner and a few cel lights from my TPMS and my test pipe, all was good. About 9pm last night, we were gonna do one last read. Started cranking it and it started up. It wasnt a strong start but it was going. Let it run for 1/2 then shut her down and she started right back up. She start right up this morning.
Don't know what happened.

Bring it to the dealer or your preferred shop and have them look at it. Who knows when it could happen again.

Please update this thread if the issue comes back.

Vid clip made it sound like the compression was very low the way it was spinning over.... have you driven the car since you got it started? If so does it feel normal?

I've had a couple similar experiences with my RA. It'd start and then die right away. After that it wouldn't start up or anything. What I've noticed though, is that when it dies like that do not try to start it up immediately. When I try to start it up again right away, I get the same thing as your video.

I wait a good 5~10 minutes before I try again. I put the gas to the floor, pumping the gas pedal works too, and try to start it up. It'll start up real hard and sound terrible, but after it idles for a bit it's fine. I haven't figured out what causes this, and have no idea. Best of all, I can't reproduce it for the life of me.

May be stupid, but do you allow the fuel pump to prime properly before starting? just an idea...

That was one of the first things I thought of, but it still happens after all the ticking has stopped. . I haven't had this happen in awhile, though. *furiously knocks on wood desk*

I read the whole thread, you said you let it run for 1/2 with no units specified and then said you shut it down and cranked it back up again... you said nothing about driving it...... If the compression is down etc you should be able to feel that by driving the car... so far it just sounds like your moving it around the shop and not actually driving it.
