Help can't log AEM with evoscan

I have the serial to usb cable. I checked the com port to make sure it was set correctly. I selected AEM UEGO under (WDB). I have selected open port 2.0. BAUD Rate 9600. Mode23 USA RA EVOX. I have tried 2 different cables. Tried using 2.8 2.7 2.6 and 0.99. What I'm trying to read is the External Wideband A/F Ratio Display. But for the life of me I can't get it to work. What I can get to work some what is the AFRMAP. It will stay a solid 14.7 until I hammer the throttle and it will only then register a A/F reading. I'm lost at this point. Any thought?

Are you using the digital or analog AEM (lights or needle display)?

I'd check to see if you soldered the AEM wires to the R232 plug correctly. I almost screwed that up but in the end, it worked as advertised.

F that serial port BS. best way is to just run the signal wire from the gauge to the ecu and log that way. less wires, less bs.

Second that, tap into the rear o2 signal and log. I tried the serial, was too much of PITA, just my .02

I thought the serial was very easy. Just solder two wires to the plug.

To the OP, make sure you didn't solder them backwards on the plug (meaning reversed the pins).

The main issue I had was getting the lap tops USB port re-configured to read the serial plug. Never could get it working correctly...

Simple possibility as well, make sure your laptop has the proper drivers for your serial to USB cable. Once this has been done, check which COM port you're using via the device manager, then tell evoscan to use that port for your wideband.
Even easier: plug the openport into one of your usb ports, check the ID of that port (evoscan will tell you what COM address your openport is connected to), then use that USB port for your serial to USB cable and tell evoscan what port you're using. Evoscan automatically detects the openport, but not the wideband port.

I'm told by AEM now that some cables don't play well and I happen to own them. Instead of finding ones that do I think i'm just going to take the advise of others and just go the rear O2 route. Thanks all. Kinda of a bummer it took me this long to figure this out but I guess this is the joys of the hobby. LOL
