Farewell Ralliart
Farewell Ralliart, Farewell Ralliart forum.
If anyone ever shows up on the Bimmerfest forums say hello if you see me.
The RA is gone, the new Silver Metallic 2011 335 has taken her spot in my driveway. I picked her up tonight with 4 miles on her, and left the RA with a total of only 5307 miles at the BMW dealer.
Now I have to clean out my garage and make room to keep this sweet new ride happy. I don't plan on trading this car after only 7 months like the RA!
There are some good people here I'll miss, and I have made a few forum friends here over these last 7 months. Thanks to those who have offered advice and assistance, and I wish you all the best with your cars, and in life.
Bryan/Razorlab thanks for all your contributions to the forum and your kind offer of assistance with my tune.
Chitown OZ, thanks for your support to me and the community.
MADSB, thanks for all the support you provide the community.
In truth there are also some self centered little boys here that I won't miss, but that is no different than any other forum I guess, there are always a few bad apples in every barrel.
Best of luck!
Cheers and farewell Dave,

Yep. Consider me officially environmentally friendly!
Apparently these clean diesel cars are considered more green than a Prius, of course that is another car that was right at the top of my short list of possible considerations!
Being a long time diesel fan having owned 3 different diesel trucks , 2 diesel boats, and my Kubota diesel tractor, I asked for my deposit back on the 335i just to be sure I might not prefer the diesel version once I had chance to check them out closely.
For the last few months I had really only focused my research on the 335i/335xi, never even really considering the diesel could possibly meet the "Need for Speed".
I took my wife out to test drive a diesel last weekend to see what we thought, sort of just to be sure the gas version was the only real choice.
All I can say is this is not your father's diesel vehicle!
With 265HP and 425 TQ (JBD performance tuner will be on order in the next few days and adds +60 HP/+100TQ) the sensation of acceleration is totally different than the 335i, and frankly far more exciting! While the stock 335i is a little quicker 0-60 (5.6 vs 6.0) with the JBD tuner the 335d will do 12.9 second 1/4 miles, so that is plenty quick enough for me.
Oh and it can still realistically get 36-40 MPG highway! Quiet, clean burning diesel technology, the future is here today...
Who would have ever guessed I would trade my formerly 292HP RA for a diesel?
Ha, Ha, Ha

Thank you!
I am very happy so far. All the owners that have added the JBD tune are still getting easily 36-40 MPG on the highway, and dramatically improved responsiveness and acceleration. So at least for now, that will be the extent of my mods. I think 325HP/525TQ should keep a smile on my face for quite a while!
