Oops, I Did it Again
OK RA gang, here is what might seem to be some good news for you guys.
While my only recently traded RA had some decent performance upgrades and was actually a good bit quicker than the BMW 335d I bought, even though my brakes were slightly upgraded, my suspension was stock.
After reading many glowing comments from virtually all the car mags about the performance and superior handling of the BMW 335d, I bought mine after just a couple test rides with sales guys and my wife on board, having test driven different 335i models several times. Literally the second night of my 335d ownership, an hour or so after dinner I headed out to find a couple of my favorite "Twisty Roads" to get a feel of this torque monster on some good back roads. Now FYI, these are the same backroads I had ran down many times before in my RA.
In truth while the torque/power makes acceleration after braking almost instantaneous in a 335d, I believe the RA handles noticeably better in spirited driving around most corners, when traffic laws and conditions permit.
And just FYI, the 335d is actually reported by most car mag tests to handle slightly better than the gas version 335i.
I was so disapointed to already be having buyer's remorse, after just trading my 7 month old RA that I had just gotten totally dialed in. I literally was pondering a suspension upgrade, ON MY ONE DAY OLD CAR!
So how did I resolve this rather expensive dilema you may be wondering?
Well, actually, with the professionalism and full support of my local BMW dealer, I resolved it in what now seems to be the best mutually beneficial manner possible. I upgraded!
Now IMHO this new 335d M Sport upgrade (with literally every option they have) handles every bit as well as the RA, and while of course I am a little biased at this point, it might even handle a tiny bit better.
I am already scheduled for a BMW performance driving class at Summit Point Raceway in a couple of weeks, it should be a blast driving a diesel around the track with almost nobody else but M owners registered for the class!
I know my other silver 335d may have appeared a bit like a grocery getter car to some on this board, but maybe this one with the M Sport package may seem a little more appealing. Believe it or not, my wife actually encouraged me to upgrade!
Just say no to buyer's remorse.

Is that an 2011? Yep, 2011 Sapphire black 335d with Oyster interior.
It must be nice to have money to BURN Mr. Dave.....
Steve, you know I don't have money to burn, that is why I had to find a car with a low cost of operation. The RA was just costing me too much in fuel costs at only 27MPG on the highway, so look at all the money I will be saving now that I can get 36-40 MPG...
Just kidding of course. In truth I have a $379 tuner on order from Burger Tuning that should be here next week, and should give the car about 300-320HP and about 500-525TQ. Once that is installed, I will be totally content with virtually everything on this car as I have no need or aspirations for the car to ever be anything but just a fun cruiser.
Cheers to all,

You say that now...
The first step to modding your car is stating the above. Then you will say "oh just one more thing". And by the time you know it the carpet is ripped out and your wanting to turn it into a track car.
At least tell me you're going to be getting some nicer wheels, please? Just remember now that you have a Bimmer you can't settle for Rotas or Enkeis, gotta go big with some iForged or HRE now...
That's just dirty. I might have a bit of jealousy...
Good friend of mine traded his STi for a drop top M3, convertible is not my style but I will concede that his car is awesome.
