Start up problem
Start up problem
Hey guys just got my first lancer ralliart and im loving it...
however i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i need help figuring this out.
I have a 2009 Ralliart complete stock, in a very rare occasion it will have trouble starting, almost seems like its not getting proper fuel.
This will happen 1 out of 20-30 engine starts.
Since its under warranty, the dealer said they obviously can't find a problem
since they can't recreate the problem, they found a dirty air filter, however its still doing it with a new one...
the possible bad relay recall was ruled out.....
someone told me its normal for the ralliart to do this?
Please help guys
any help will be appreciated
thanks

Interesing! I just got my 2010 RA last week, and on a few occasions I have noticed that it sounded like it was barely able to start, I thought maybe I left an interior light on and the battery was drained (then I read these cars have a built-in 20 minute cutoff so you won't run down the battery in such cases). Anyway, it doesn't happen every time, but enough that I have noticed it.
Before starting ur car, turn it to ACC (2 clicks of the key IIRC). You will hear the door chime going, but behind that will be the fuel pump, priming in the background. Wait for it to finish priming before turning the engine over. That should help, especially if you park on an incline.
I don't you guys answered the question.
If you read you manual from front to back first it will explain all the little thing the car does including the start up issue. (Which is cause by in running rich in the fuel department) it happens when it very cold to.
Please from now on Just read the Manual of every car you buy. It makes you look dumb when you don't do that first (no offense)

I have the same problem also.
It is completely random as to when it happens. It happened to me at my parents house when it was 91 degrees out. And it also happened in the garage when it was only 70ish outside.
I have yet to find a way to duplicate the issue. But I just turn the key back to neutral, then start it up again and it works.
I do notice it idles very rough after this happens. But it never seems to RUN poorly, just startup. I do have an oil change coming up so Ill have the dealership take a look and see if they notice anything (heh, not expecting them to find anything, i had to give them the TSB for the fuel pump relay replacement).

Welcome to the forum- try to use the search function next time because this topic has been posted many times. The common problems are cold temps, bad fuel pump relay.from my own experience ive never had this problem after I started leaving carcar in acc mode for roughly 5-10se before turning on fully. This gives time for the fuel pump to prime.
it only happened to me 3 times from 18 mth ownership .. the last time it happened was last summer.. no prob like that anymore.
Try to leave the key at ACC position for a while then start it again.

I personally like to hears all the beeps when turning the key into ACC before cranking.
Our cars runs for 1 sec after shutting off to disengage clutches. if they dont do this properly and stay engaged it would create a hard time for the car to start up. If you are accidentally hitting a paddle shifter during this shut off second it may not disengage properly, causing a hard start up.
AND yes this is in the manual somewhere
