COBB accessPORT + AMS Boost Pill

Hello evolutionm,

I just recently got the COBB AP and installed it and loved it. I was reading on AMS that the boost pill is like a must have for SST trans. Is there a way that I can combine the boost pill with the new COBB beta AP for the 2011 RA. I think there is a tune out there for the stock RA which I have and the boost pill but I want the cobb tuning on top of that.

Hope I explained everything good enough and any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think AMS protunes with Cobb though. You'd need a Tactrix cable/ecuflash

I am talking to a guy from AMS now and he is saying that i would need the Stage 0 but i already bought the AP last week and just bought the boost pill today. So all I really need is the Tune for my AP right?

All you need is to find a tuner that uses Cobb's AccessTuner Pro to create a custom map for ur need...
Pill/Intake/Exh ... etc etc..

The boostpill is a plus and helps achieving more stable and increased boost. But if the maps provided with the AccessPort don't support it, it's pretty useless for you...

Usually a custom tune can cost between 400-500$ (at least that's what it cost around here).

If you really want to benefit from the extra boost the boost pill allow without paying for a custom tune, get a Tactrix cable (as proposed by others) and used the GST Basemap with boostpill...

Other than already have the AccessPORT, why do you want to use it so much?

I have the AMS boost pill and got a custom tune from Forged Performance. You can also get the e-tune from AMS themselves or other e-tuners. Both of them are in the $400 range. I thought that Cobb by now would be offering more maps for the RAs but I guess not. I do love the new (Beta) software upgrade on the AP.

We do Protune with Cobb quite a bit actually.

AMS wants to charge me 385 dollars for there tune. The part I bought was only 18 bucks. I have been talking with COBB the last couple of days and they said they are going to get a survey out and want Mitsu owners to voice there opinion about what tunes they should make. I think I might wait for COBB to do something with the boost pill and the WORKS high flow intake. If they dont push something out soon I guess I ***** buy AMS's tune. There tune will give my car 20% WHP and COBBs was 15.4 WHP so 5% for $400?

You should have read around the forum before buying stuff.

Be happy it's just 20$ that you will have sitting there unused...

Once you have put a few aftermarket parts, you can go and get a custom tune with the boost pill...

In the meantime, if you absolutely want the extra benefit from the boost pill, get a tactrix for about 200$ + the GST Basemap or get a protune for about 400$...

But before you choose, you better start reading the forum and know what you do... The forum is here to help you having to go thru the same mistake or experiment that other people did before you.

I hope this forum helps people in advance as well. I am just going to wait for COBB and see if they do finally get some new maps out besides a Stage 1 and 2. Everyone here has been so awesome about helping me out and replaying and I really appreciate it. Thanks to all who have put there input on this and I am sure I'll see some of you guys on the street and blow past you hahahaha.

Thanks again guys.

This Forum will help people but you have to understand what you
are trying to do as well. So if there are parts you want to install on
your car then talk to someone, read some threads, do research on
what you are wanting to do.

Also if its something that needs a tune or not. BTW thats a whole
new subject all together. Hey im new to the forum too but I do a lot
of research on parts & supplies before I purchase because it will help
me in the end.

BTW thats awesome that COBB is trying to poll users to see if they
will create a map for the AMS Boost Pill. As far as I know the COBB AP
is the Boost Control for the car. Not to say you can't get something else
to control your boost levels.... just saying.

Even though I see people getting Boost Controllers with an
AP Tune. Again Im just stating what I read & what I was
told. I did speak to COBB directly & that is what they told me.

But, If you have information that suggests otherwise or can direct
me to a link that would be helpful.
