tuning & fuel economey

Ok Ok I know both of these subjects have been beaten to death and I think I have read moth of them ugg. However, I couldn't find any post of them together.

So the question is Cobb vs GST based only on increase in MPG, No need to argue price, HP gains ect. That is covered plenty.

if you drive conservatively, you would probably see the same increase in mpg regardless of which one you chose.

Both are aimed at increasing performance, you will achieve an increase in MPG due to leaning out the AFR mixture. But the seam to make the turbo spool earlier. You could certainly achieve better MPG by modifying the maps to keep the wastegate fully open below 3200 RPM (thus, when driving on the highway, you'll be running wastegate pressure rather than full boost). The downside is your turbo will spool later.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable about this could give more insight?

At least w/ the GST base map tunes that I've used and messed with, the low throttle positions and low RPMs leave the waste gate mostly open. The waste gate only goes full shut when you're at full throttle.

The stock tune has the wastegate full shut and uses "error correction" to manipulate the gate to achieve the target boost. This has lead to more than one comment about the stock turbo on the stock tune "spooling when you sneeze".

In a nutshell, it's the opposite of what you've stated, and is part of the reason that people report increased economy on tunes.

The power gains come in changes to load and boost targets, in addition to minor leaning out of the fuel maps. Though the leaning of the fuel maps is small beans compared to the changes to boost management when it comes to fuel economy improvements.

OK...so I'm still in the break in period for my car, but I am getting approximately 320-330 km per tank. When I fill up it say 320 km to empty on the Nav. That is terrible given that I have been light footed and not taking her past 5000 rpm. I might have to get a tune just to get a little better mileage. My gf is not happy thus far haha.

5000 rpm? Boost comes in strong around 2500-3000 when you're giving it enough throttle to reach 5k +, so try keeping it light throttle under 3000 and watch your fuel economy soar

Basically I my drive to work is about 40 miles of all turn pike. So now that I have got the paying around out of my system, its pretty much set the cruse and wait for the exit. However, I also want to tune for performance reasons. I was leaning toward GST but I think Cobb is now the way to go for me. That way I can use there eco mode and easily flash to Stage 1 for the weekend. Any one have experience with the Cobb eco map?

Cobb still hasn't come up with Ecomode for 2011 RAs

Bummer. I am rocking an 09 so I am good to go. I am not the most knowledgeable on this but I would think the map would be the same as the 09 & 10 maybe someone can verify.

I wish it was the same. But I phoned Cobb directly and they said that it is not the same.

The difference I noticed in Eco mode was 1. no real fun 2. about 26.3 MPG with Stage 1 I had about 25.8 MPG these were both conservative driving for 2 tank fulls each to feel out some sort of average; both at highway speeds. Around town i haven't dipped below 20 MPG with the Stage 1. I just uploaded Stage 2 and cant keep the foot off the gas so I'll have to get back to yall on that one. . These small gas tanks don't help though so it seems as if your getting horrible fuel economy.

I have the Cobb and just got back from a trip tonight. With the economy flash I got 620 km on one tank...and 570 on another. I was pretty impressed.
