Down shifting

Does anyone manually downshift the car as a means of slowing down? Coming from a 6sp manual I would down shift all the time. But I am not to knowledgeable of the twin clutch trany. Dose down shifting for slowing down cause any damage? Also, I noticed when I do it the instant MPG reading shoots all over the place (prob trying to match the enging speed to the wheel speed) and then some times still has a decent mpg reading. Is that accurate? I know a lot of newer cars the ecu will cut / significant reduce the fuel when coasting at higher rps and use the cars momentum to run the accessories on the belt. Doing so obviously to save on gas.

Down shifting is not a big deal I am just more curious than anything.

I down shift to 2nd gear almost every time. After getting to 2nd, i let the car handle it mainly because 2nd is short enough that it can accelerate from 1200 rpm without any trouble

I downshift all the time every time.

I dont like 1st gear so I stay out of it as much as I can.
I downshift so I dont have to use brake.
39+K miles & counting... Brakes are still good.

I would recommend letting it downshift on its own. Brake pads are significantly cheaper to replace than tranny and engine. Just my opinion.

Word. Sport mode does a pretty good job of keeping the engine braking on the up.

While engine braking, it's basically a big air pump and the injectors are shut off.

The RA has so little engine brake, close to zero compared to other cars I drive. Is that be course of the turbo or what ??

Below a certain MPH or braking the clutch packs open up, unlike a manual trans car unless you put the clutch in.

If you just let off throttle and let the car decel it engine brakes just like any other car.

That's what I was wondering. So if the injectors are off then it is no using fuel in the process. So I'm not waiting gas.
