Former WRX Owner?

I've been considering picking up a used 09+ Ralliart and was intersted in feedback from anyone who used to own a WRX/STi? I've owned an 02 WRX and am currently selling my 06 STi.

What WRX did you have and what do you drive now?
What do you like most over the WRX?
What do you like least?
Is reliability better or worse than the WRX?

Thanks ahead of time for the feedback!

I think a RA would be a better daily than an STI, that's coming from another STI owner.

That sounds about right. Curious as to how it compares to a WRX more so I guess.

I don't think a lot of people have gone from one side to the other.

Haha. I suppose you're right. Definitely a stigma between the two.

That too but I was thinking more along the lines of cost. It doesn't make a lot of sense to sell your 09+ WRX to buy an 09+ Ralliart or your 09+ Ralliart to buy an 09+ WRX. The two cars are so new and so similar, it wouldn't be an upgrade going either way and you'd be losing a fair amount of money.

I suppose I should have been more specific. I envisioned people with older WRXs (02-07) who have sold that and moved on to a new car(ie 09+ ralliart). Seems reasonable since the cars are somewhat similar in appeal.

I came from a modded bug eye wagon and then to a jzx100 and back to awd turbs - I do miss my wrx and while the RA has more power, I miss the fun factor that the subie had. What I don't miss though was the glass gearbox, etc and things breaking when the next power level was achieved. The RA is a step up for sure - and you'll really enjoy the RA if you make the move

I think its more of a preference. I originally looked at the WRX but the looks of the RA won me over as the performance was similar. More features/gadgets and I just thought it looked more aggressive.... also the Twin Clutch idea was pretty sweet

The Choice is yours my friend!

I had an '04 WRX for about a year before I traded it in on my RA. It was bone stock its entire life. Comparing my bone-stock RA to the WRX, the RA is a much nicer car. Less body roll, less turbo lag, and I'd say it's a good bit faster. The WRX has a beautiful engine note that the RA doesn't even compare to. The RA's engine note is very....sterile in comparison. All-in-all, I'm happier with my RA than I was with the WRX; though I do miss the Subie's WRB paint and that boxer engine note.

The 2.5 L WRXs should be more or less the same performance wise as the Ralliarts. That would be 06 on. The transmission was upgraded during the change as well so it's not as much of a problem. It's still not as solid as the STI 6-speed or the Evo 5-speed though. It really is a matter of weighing your needs.

I had an 04 WRX that I loved!!
I went to the evo (x) for two reasons one I hated the way the new looking 08+ imprezas looked and I lived the tranny on the Evo MR.
I miss the way you could whip the WRX around and there was something about the interior of that car that I really liked. OH and I missed the gold rims on the WRB!
The Lancer will drive differently, but you will like the features it offers vs your current car. I thinks it a more comfortable car. I have been in the R.A. and thought about it when buying my evo.
