Dead Subwoofer problem with the RF/Nav

Hi everyone, I just bought a used Ralliart and I had two problems with it. The first question I asked on here was loaded with great and useful answers so I am going to try and solve the second problem here.

My subwoofer is dead. I loved the Rockford Fosgate stereo in my previous Lancer GT, but this used Ralliart I bought had issues with the sound. Turns out, now that I replaced the noisy exhaust, the problem is from the subwoofer. It is shot dead, making only pathetic farting noises.

I don't have a whole pile of money since I bought this RA from an accident (some lady totaled my parked Lancer GT), and the one thing I miss most about the old Lancer is the bad *** stereo.

I don't have a whole lot of car audio experience, I'm a total newb. So here comes the questions

1- Should I replace it with another Rockford Fosgate sub? They seem kind of expensive, but I do care a LOT about sound quality. And I listen to a lot of heavy bass music like Drum'n'bass or industrial metal.

2- What are the cheap crap brands to avoid when shopping for a subwoofer?

3- How many watts is the stock subwoofer on a 2009 RA with Rockford Fosgate?

4- Will I need to change the amplifier in order to get something stronger?

5-Will a 12" be too big to fit on the side like the RF sub is?

6- Can I buy another 10" and re-use the same casing as the current RF sub?

If you can answer any of those questions, please post.

1- i love rockford, but its a personal preference thing. so can't say yah or na. A lot of good quality out there now so basically find the best deal
2- avoid a store not a brand. Most brands have low and high end. You can buy pioneer at walmart. But that is not the same quality pioneer that you would find at lets say Best buy. Look up model numbers from a reputable shop and search from that point on whether it be ebay/amazon/or local.
3-not sure exactly
4-most likely not. Unless u want a system to make bolts come loose
5-12" are dumb
6-yes. Best way to go though is a single 10' in an infinity ported 2 chamber box. I've seen that out compete ****ty dual 12" system. a single 10" in our car set up properly is all you need ( for most people)

Hope this helps. Again its all about personal preference. Does it come down to " dude I got dual 12 subs. I'm the ****" or " check this system out- done right"
----> ^ no disrespect to anyone with 12's ahah

That was helpful, thanks.

I'm still concerned about price, since I'm not in the best spot financially right now. It looks like a new Rockford Fosgate of the same size would cost me up to 350$. I guess I don't need the case since I have the dead one's case in there. But I am looking for a cheap, but effective and quality way to replace this as soon as humanly possible.

Does anyone know of good places to buy a subwoofer for a great price?
