so i swapped in some CREE led reverse lights yesterday, they work but for what ever reason they turn off after like 5 seconds of engaging reverse...

ideas?

 

Pretty sure you need to wire resistors inline with the led. I had led reverse lights and similar issue. Your car is expecting a certain resistance/voltage and the leds do not give the expected. I think I used a 50w 10ohm resistor. Queales electronics downtown might have what you need (assuming you are still in Victoria)

update

problem solved,

installed one 6ohm 50w resister in the wiring right behind the reverse light,

one lead to the white (+) wire and the other to the black (-) wire

 

Could you post pics of the lights on? I'm interested in doing this as well and would like to see the difference. Also, where did you get the cree lights from?

 

2nd the request for pics, i had cree's lights in my previous car and they were fantastic, interested to see them on the evo
