It was just bad gas..

Anyone know of a "good" or even "above average" service department in Houston? You know, a place where common sense is utilized...

Or can someone please explain to me (in a believable manner) how a K&N drop in filter and a cat back will void a warranty..?

BTW, I threw in a K&N drop-in air filter and it popped the "service engine soon" light. The dealership says this voids the warranty...................... An air filter...?

Just the light. No other issues and the car still runs great. The light is just annoying..

Just a filter does NOT void the warranty, UNLESS the install directly caused the light, which it did. The problem, here, is that a K&N filter should not cause a check engine light.

Depending on the code, any OBDII scanner should be able to read and clear your code. What code are you getting? Then we can go forward from there.

Dont know the exact code, I was told it was a "lean code".. Eitherway, the light went out on its own this morning... When I first got in it to go to work, it was still on, stopped to get gas (93 octane as always, 12 gals), jumped on the beltway and about 3 miles later, it went off! Hasnt come back.. I'm wondering if it was a bad tank of gas..?

I am by no means an expert, thats why I'm on here trying to learn everything I can.. But "UNLESS the install directly caused the light, which it did." Its a drop-in filter, you take the old one out and put the new one in... I've built several 11 & 12 second mustangs and camaros; and while I'm new to AWD/Turbo cars, I feel I am more than capable of changing an air filter.......

My intent is not to give you an attitude or argue, I'm just EXTREMELY frustrated with the less than intelligent individuals Ive dealt with at the dealership... I'm not looking for fingers to be pointed, I just want to understand why this happened. =LEARNING

No offense taken. I totally understand your perspective and agree that there should be no issue, which is why I started my statement with what I did. I was just trying to let you know the justification they were using to turn you away.

Thanks for the replys and help! BTW, I want your "fastest stock RA turbo" record! Just need a few months to get some miles on this thing before I start tearing into it! I'm leaning towards Tubro XS turbo back exhaust (with test pipe) and doing all the necessary items to run E85. Dyno tuned by some folks here in Houston. Seems people have been getting good results from this.

Did you run that with full interior??

Good luck, I've actually castrated the car quite a bit since making that pass, so I won't be progressing any time soon. That means plenty of time to catch up to and surpass me

When I ran that time, I had the rear seats and trunk stuff out of the car. I've also done a bunch of other random weight reduction, so the car was fairly light.

I also never had the chance to run it on e85, so I feel like it had much more potential to go even faster since I have removed even more weight since then and there are some new parts coming on to the market that were not available a year and a half ago. If I had been able to continue (or when I get a chance to get back to it) I definitely feel like 11's are possible and I still intend to prove that someday.

That is my goal, 11s. Even if it's just an 11.99... I'm convinced it is possible!
