noob problems

Hey guys. Im going to apologize in advance since this might be a dumb question to some of you. I have 2 lights that a bothering the crap out of me. One, is the service required light comung on every time i start my car.( yes i've tried messing with the info button and all that, but it wont clear) the other one, is a triangular shape with an "!" On it. Anyone experience any of these? If so whats the issue and how do i resolve it. Please halp! Thanks.

I believe that's the low tire pressure indicator. Do you have after market wheels?

I do not. I checked my tires and put them all at 35psi thinking that could fix it but nope. I also unplugged my battery and it still comes on after.

The tire pressure sensors don't activate until after the vehicle is in motion. So, if you had the tire pressure warning when you shut off the car, it will be there again the next time you start the car, and it won't go away until you drive the car with sufficiently inflated tires.

I've driven the car for at least 100 miles after having the pressure checked. Takes more than 100 miles??

It sounds like one of them are bad, They do have a shelf life as I think they contain a battery.
A dealer might be able to locate the bad one. or you can rent\ buy a scanner and scan each sensor while the wheels are still bolted to the car.
I think your cheapest option might be trying to contact NGS to see if you can rent his scanner to locate the bad one(it will not read the sensor code on the bad one), then have a tireshop replace it there or take it out so you can read the stamped code on the sensor and have NGS clone it for you.

Ok, thanks for the help. Now about that other triangle shaped one..i did some more research and im not liking what i found. Is this "triagle of death" serious? ? Says that i might need a timing chain done?? Only at 40k?! Is this the only reason this "triangle" pops up? Starting to freak out

Nope should only take a few yards, if you build up any speed. You didn't mention that you took the car out for a spin after filling the tires. So, I thought I'd mention it, just in case.

The only other thing, that I can think of that might cause the TPMS warning lights to persist is dead batteries in the sensors. The car (and in theory the sensors & batteries) are 4 yrs old at this point.

Did these lights just recently come on?

If so your best bet is to go to a tire shop and have them read your TPMS codes, most shops around me charge between 20-30 to do this. If any of the wheels are unreadable the sensor is either dead or broken. Have them pull it out of the wheel and take a picture of the numbers on the back, the code for it should be there. Once you have the four codes you can send them to me and I can program a set for you.

Yes, that triangle does mean the timing chain needs to be checked. Take it to a Mitsubishi dealership and have them take a look at it. I had it pop up on mine when my car was around 35k and I brought it to the dealer and they looked at it and said everything was fine, cleared the light, and changed the tolerance on the sensor. All for free.

I thought you got a triangle for any important issues, not just timing chain? It might just be letting you know about the TPMS Sensors. Check the owners Manual to be sure before you call and spend $$ for nothing.
