What should i look for when buying Ralliart
Im looking at buying a used 2009 ralliart
http://www.pickardlane.ca/certified/...4e56af39b6.htm
Is there anything I should test on the car before buying it?
The car had a check engine light on but the dealer said they would get that fixed before I buy it.
The car has 115000kms on it how much do people normally get out of the car?
I noticed the car revs to around 3000rpm before it starts to roll forward is this normal for ralliarts? at red lights the car would rev 1000rpm to 2000rpm and i was only on the break so i didn't know what that was all about.
Other things about the car i noticed
The left exhaust wasn't a circle anymore and looked bent like someone backed up into something. The silver gas cap had some ware on it and a screw was missing.(dont know how much that is to replace)
Thanks for any advice in advanced.

it looks like they backed up into something sticking out of the ground but there was no damage to the bumper just the exhaust.
I checked the VIN at the dealer an it was all good.

Ralliarts' ACD Pumps fail on that mileage and some earlier than that. If u can afford to get extended warranty then do so. I know this brother as it just happened to me at 104k kms. The cold weather software update couldnt fix it.
U could also ask if they can do a compression test so u have better idea about the health of the engine. Are u buying from a Mitsu dealer?

that about the mileage Mitsubishi recommends the SST service, make sure that was done and documented, and like mentioned above get the extended warranty to cover the ACD and SST at least for another 2-3 yrs for piece of mind. (unless your going to mod the hell out of it anyway.)

Not sure how prices up north work but here that's a high price for the car being an 09 u can get a brand new ralliart here for 26k also the problem with the car not engaging till 3000rpm is a huge problem Basically the clutches are slipping. a flush and fluid change might fix that but then again it might not.The sst if it hasn't had the proper care cost 10k to replace so you decide the risk, buy the car and maybe spend 10k on a tranny costing u 28k or just get a brand new one costing you 26-27k but again not sure how Canadian prices are.

That's not how it should work!
Actually, the delay/hesitation in accelerating from a dead stop is a known issue/problem with the Ralliarts especially if you're running the stock tune. The GST basemaps improve this deficiency somewhat, but even then it still doesn't engage as quickly as most cars on the market.

#1 rule make sure you look under the car for rust or to see if it has been bottomed out off road or beat on, make the dealer put it on a lift, or take it to a shop on the test drive and have them put it on a lift, you would be surprised what under the car can tell about its history, the dealerships pretty everything up except the underside.
also remove the trunk liner to look for accidents in the rear, you can look at the front bumper and fenders to see if they have been repainted or replaced
don't really worry about chips and dings, they are gonna happen
Start it up and just listen for any knocking in the motor or any weird noises
when you first start it up put it in Park reverse and drive to see how long it takes to change, if it hesitates, there could be a problem with the tranny
on the test drive drive safely, but don't hold back redline it, brake hard to check for warped rotors
I wish everyone did this, there would be no such thing as "used car dealers"
When i go to look at a used car it usually takes 1-2 hrs before the test drive for me to look it over, salesmen hate me Lol
But doing this i have got some of the cleanest examples for great deals, and avoided some overpriced night mares.
