Angry T-boned...

Well, this ain't gonna buff out.

Someone blew a stop sign.. I accelerated last second so he wouldn't hit driver side door... hit the rear wheel and spun me a full 180. ACD/AWD/etc lights all over the place, obviously had to get towed out. No injuries, luckily. No airbags either. Other driver was able to drive home, bmw 528i.. messed up his front bumper and lost his license plate.

What do you guys think the damage will be on this? Totaled with potential ACD smash? Tranny? rear sub frame? I have to wait for their insurance adjuster to be assigned before I can bring it anywhere to get an estimate.

Not even near totaled.. and honestly the line leading to the ACD is probably damaged. The pump is in the truck, correct?

I mean financially totaled since the other driver's insurance would be covering. Car's worth ~13000, I know this car is expensive to fix so I have no idea what these costs might entail.. possible subframe, unibody damage, suspension tower, control arm, axle, acd, differential, etc. I just don't know yet but I know just to replace an ACD pump alone it's 2k so my gut reaction is that this will be quite pricey and possibly pass the half-way value point. but I don't know!

ACD reservoir is in the trunk, other side.

Door, rocker panel, wheel and possibly a rear strut.
The impact required to damage the frame and subframe is pretty nuts. If the car's valued at 13k, you'd need roughly 9k for it to be claimed a total loss.

Also- tough to tell from the picture, but the wheel is bent/pushed in a good 5-6 inches at the top which is where the other car impacted it..the wheel itself isn't bent, which leads me to believe the upper control arm is or the subframe it's connected to; This is why I assumed the other internals might be damaged. From getting pushed in it seems like the differential might get mashed but I'm not sure how that works or how that's all connected.

Does anyone have an idea/estimate of cost from the damage here? I imagine it's hard to tell without seeing it and taking it apart... but if anyone has had this happen before or knows what the cosmetic costs might be at least that would be helpful.

Thanks everyone

Man you have one of the rare colored Sportback combo's too

The ACD pump is on the other side. This looks like:
rear qtr panel
rear door
paint
wheel
upper arm
possible rear hub
possible lower arm and trailing arm
possible rear sway bar and endlink
possible rear cv axel
possible rear differential.

That's definitely going to be alot. I remember when I was rear ended, just replacing the bumper cover and support bar under it was going to be $1200. Of course, all that was going to be covered by insurance, but if that simple (in my head) fix was $1200, then I'm afraid of the estimate to your car. Did any of your air bags go off? If any of them did, usually insurance companies will write off the car.

I can honestly say that I feel your pain. I had the exact same thing happen to my late Ralliart. It was completely destroyed, custom parts and all. There was a passenger in my passenger seat, where the direct impact occurred, and he walked away from the accident. You wouldn't believe it from the outside appearance of the car. The door/fender was COMPLETELY caved in. On the inside, no sign of accident other than every airbag having been deployed. It was over so quickly, I barely knew what had happened. Impact speed: 40 MPH. It is for that reason that I bought another 2008+ Lancer derivative.

I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do. I cannot recommend the X enough.

I do not think it will be all that expensive to fix it. The most expensive will be the Q-panel and door skin. Remember it is all about quality of work. Your car can look brand new or it can look like .........?!?

yeah the frame looks ok thanks to the wheel taking most the impact it looks like.
wheel, strut, upper control arm, possibly the hub and cv arm will need to be replaced. Definitely take it to mitsubishi dealer to have the rear lsd check out if they don't replace it.

The verdict is in...

Totaled. Adjustor/shop said there was some frame damage, plus bumper damage, possible shock and shock tower damage, rear seat area frame, differential damage, etc.

Probably getting an FR-S next...
