Rear seat delete?

Has anyone deleted their rear seats yet? I hardly have any passengers and I kinda hate having more then one person in my car so I have no use for the rear seats. I'm sure if I this is done there will be a huge weight savings. I've seen some X's with the delete but no RA's.

The seats pop right out with very little effort. I took them out and they weigh hardly anything. I ended up putting them back in. Looks much cleaner and they are so cheap and light it was useless to pull them out in the first place. Unless you are a time attack track only car it is pointless to pull out the seats.

There was a study done by several people online who cut shaved and tore a car apart in pieces. When they put the car on the dyno they saw a 3 horse power increase after removing 80 pounds of crap.

If you want to get more horse power you have to do some insane and expensive weight reduction. Removal of non essential engine parts and components . AC and heat system etc. Lighter components and alloys carbon fiber etc. Not worth it if your car is a daily and not a track star.

Ummm, I hate to burst your bubble here, but there is NO relation between weight and horsepower. There IS however a relation between weight and acceleration/track times....you are confusing the two concepts.

LMAO so true, dyno has nothing to do with weight to power ratio in real world conditions.

Yeah.. unless you are shedding weight in the drivetrain it does not equal hp on a dyno.

I am not confusing anything. I am not wasting my time and explaining the simple physics. The statement was made off facts from several independent consulting firms for 4 different car companies and various studies done by multiple oil companies that were assisting car manufactures.

Yes, it would be a waste of your time because you can't logically defend a statement that "simple physics" will show is clearly false.

Interesting. Now did you by any chance weigh everything to see how much everything was?

Also I know that this wight savings to hp thing was way off topic but I have to agree with everyone. The total weight of the vehicle has nothing to do with hp. If you remove weight off the drivetrain then yes you do free hp since there is less weight being rotated. Something like a lighter fly wheel, drive shaft, and pistons. You can see some gains.

These statements are correct. My point was that the title of this thread is "Rear seat delete", and you sure as hell don't gain any horsepower by taking seats, spare tires, junk-in-the-trunk, etc etc, out of your vehicle.
