Cruise Control and 4th gear?

Hi guys. I have had my 2010 RA for about a month now.

However, I keep having an issue where I am using Cruise Control for a 70kph (40-45mph) road and as it ascends a hill, to shifts down to 4th gear. But once I've gone over the hill and start descending, it continues to sit in 4th gear until I switch into manual and take it up to 5th or 6th gear.

Is this meant to happen or...?

Thanks!

Are you saying that it never shifts even after you've hit level ground? Mine also stays in lower gear during the descent but once I hit the bottom of the hill it switches to a higher gear.

Yes

But after further testing, I get the feeling that the car will downshift automatically going downhill.

if you have cruise control set at 45 its going to stay in whatever gear is easiest to stay at 45. for the sake of your SST you should only use CC on highways interstates. and never on hilly areas with major inclines . as far as i know the CC does not automaticly shift at all. so you have to use manual shift shift because cruise control overides the tcu . so you have to use stick or paddles. just like a actual Manual car. even if you are in auto. ive crossed multiple state lines and traveled at least 13k miles this year in mine i have a lot of experience with the Cruise control . if your not gonna be on the same road /highway for more than 20 mins. don't even bother. my tranny just went , and basicly i either pay mitsu 13,000$$ for a new one or 4-7k for rebuild + shippping and labor to pull tranny out, then put back in. so im just saying , its best not to decrease the life of your tranny for somthing as silly as your foot being tired
