Hey all,

Going to be installing new speakers front/rear and maybe adding a sub or maybe prewiring for sub in the future.

Will be using the following for front:
-Hertz ESK 165.5 (300W Peak/100W RMS)
-4ohm
-2-Way Component System (EV 165.5 Woofer, ET 26.5 Tweeter, CX 200.5 Crossover)

Will be using the following for rear:
-Hertz ECX 165.5 (210W Peak/70W RMS)
-4ohm

Thinking of this for the sub:
-Sundown SA-10 REV2 600W SA Series (dual 4ohm)
-600W RMS

What size wiring would you recommend for speakers and the sub to connect to the Amps?

The amp's manual will have the minimum recommended gauge and fuse rating. I would guess it'll be 4 AWG.

For speaker wire, use 12-16 AWG depending on how you route it. The lower the gauge the longer you can run the wire without adding significant resistance. IIRC 14 AWG goes about 20ft.

Also I like to run my RCA cables on the other side of the car away from the power wires. Just my 2 cents.

 

You do not have to run any extra speaker wire with as little power as you are going to run. You can run the 12-16 awg up to your factory harness and tap in there. As for the amp, 4 to 8awg will be fine for that amp. Run your power wire on the opposite side as your rca cables. Best grounding point is usually the seatbelt bolts somewhere under the seat. Good luck with the install. I am getting ready to add 2 amps and a sub in my car soon also.

 

i agree with cmb70, thats the way i wired my car. put the amp under the drivers seat. power on drivers side and rcas down the passanger side. Good luck, post pictures when your done.

 

i ended up having an audio shop install the speakers and amp. Amp was installed in the trunk. I'll probably get to the subs in the summer time when i have more cash to spend.
