Cracked Windshield

Hello there. Long time lurker. Brand new poster. Anyway cutting to the chase. I have a 2009 Ralliart. I don't know how it happened, whether it was on the freeway or someone launched a rock at my window, but there's a small 7 inch crack on the window. Can I call Safelite and just have them replace it? Or should I contact Mitsubishi themselves? I'm genuinely curious as I've never had this problem before. Basically what should I do from here on?

yes, you should be able to call safelite and get a quote to either repair the crack or replace the windshield

You might want to check with your insurance company as well. They may have another company besides Safelite that they prefer to work with instead.

I've never had any luck with their recommended companies.
That doesn't mean yours will be bad though, check some reviews.
On my jetta they left globs of sealant all over the place.

The point of the post is, You have the right to choose who repairs your window.
Pick a shop with great reviews!

After you have them repair it and make it through the waiting period, take your car to a car wash and pressure wash the windshield at every place in the windshield that should have been sealed and glued. I had a friend who didn't wash his car until the 30 day or so free replacement period was expired, and when it rained water leaked into his car big time. He couldn't figure out where the water was coming from until he thought about the windshield replacement and used a pressure washer on the windshield. It will save you a lot of time and hassle. Safelite is a good company, but like others have said check with your insurance company, read reviews, and call and talk to them and their guarantee.

if your RA has the rain sensor built into the front windshield I would go through the dealer for oem glass otherwise anyone place is fine.

Great point neogeo64. I completely spaced the rain sensor out. That is critical.

I had the same issue, had to have the dealer replace the windshield since safelite does not carry windshields with rain sensors. Good Luck!
