windshield cracked....

a small rock cracked my window and i was wondering how much it would cost to replace the windshield? o also isn't there a glue that you can put on the crack that will keep it from getting larger?

how big is the crack??
typically if it is under 1 inch, then it can be repaired.
you can use that glue or the stickers for a temporary fix basically just to help keep more dirt/debris out, which in turn will slow the speading of the crack.
replacing it ranges in price from about 200-1200, i hope you have a low deductable like me, a BIG a$$ truck cut me off and cracked my window with a rock, i only had to pay a $50 dollar deductable, my total bill including what insurance paid was 1456.93.

There is a special glue in Wal-Mart (automotive department). It's some kind of windshield repair kit that makes it look like nothing happened. You have a crack and then it looks like new??!! I'm confused, but it's worth a try.

thats not really a good idea, it may look like a good one and an inexpensive one, but thats only locking in all the dirt and liquid to make the crack very unstable, and eventually if even lightly hit, it will crack/spider/get legs much worse. they do work though, they make it very un-noticable, if you dont got the insurance or the cash then go walmart, if you got insurance, use it!

The worst part is that it was 1am on the highway and nobody was in front of me for 20 carlengths. i pretty sure it had to be dropped by somebody from an overpass because thats about the time i heard the hit.

err.. I have the same problem with my windshield. I was on the highway and a semi dropped a 3/4in bolt, and it hit my windshield. omg it was so loud. Luckily it only made a tiny 1cm size chip. I'm keeping an eye on it though. Sometimes I see at Sams Club or something they have free windshield crack repair in the parking lot. You have to keep your eyes peeled for those. Lots of big stores will sometimes hire someone to fix windshield chips in their parking lot to gain a little business.

This place quoted me $254 including installation and they come to my work and do it. This also included lifetime warranty against wind noise, water leakage, and stress cracks (the reason I need a new windshield). Seemed like a good deal to me. By the way this is w/o insurance.

Get junk yard glass that's in good condition. The one in STL is only 30 dollars. Get someone/someplace to install it. That's what my ex was going to do w/ her probe, but the glass was /2 off that day.
