My 09 Ralliart is at 147,XXX miles now and its skipping all the even gears! It completely skips over 2,4, and 6. It has done this before in the past but I would just turn it off and restart it and it would just go away. no codes. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong and now it happens every time I drive it. Its not leaking any transmission oil, but I did accidentally overfill the engine oil last time...but I ran it for a week with the overfill before the gears disappeared. I just don't want to buy a new car if I can easily fix this.

 

A coworker is having this exact same issue. He told me the dealership wants 10k (new trans) and a local shop wants 4k (to fix the trans). He couldn't tell me the specifics on what exact part(s) needed to be repaired.

I'd say wait for others to chime in and see what they say.

 

Was your clutch ever replaced?

 

Is it generating a SES light?


My OBDII reader will (with enough fussing) produce codes for the tranny...


Can you have the service technician ride with you to show them the failure?
