Replacing just 1 tire

What are your guys thoughts on this? I got a nail in one of my tires and it blewout the sidewall last night. The guy at the tire place said I should replace all 4 tires with the AWD. However I only have 8,000 miles on these tires and don't really want to replace all of them if I don't have to. A new Advan A10A OEM tire has a tread depth of 10/32".
Right now here are the current tread depths:

Outer/Inner (/32s)
LF(bad one) 7/7
RF 7/7
RR 4/5
LR 5/6

You don't need to change all of them. They just want you to buy 4 tires for money. Just get 1 new but be sure it is the same exact tire. Otherwise you will have problems.

You can buy only one tire. Will it put additional stress on your diffs? Yup. Your call, but then it always was.

I am thinking it would put added stress on the lsd and could mess with AWD a bit, there has to be a better solution than buying a whole new set of tires everytime one goes bad, that makes no sense.

^ I agree, you can't expect someone to drop $700+ and ditch 3 perfectly fine tires everytime one of them goes bad.

There is already a 2/32 different between one of the back tires and one of the front. I can't see how adding a new tire to the front that would only be 2/32 more tread than the rest would mess it up. But then again just having the donut on there I was getting all sorts of errors.

If you can find the same exact tire with same specs for sure. If not something close then you should be good. Don't forget the tire alignment

There has got to be an AWD veteran who can answer this question for sure. I am also very curious to find out whats up with this.

Man I'm really torn between just trying the single tire and if I have problems that's what I have a warranty for. But then I'm afraid they will say it's because of my modifications. Also thinking of just bit ing the bullet and buying 4 new Hancook Ventus V12s. Seem to have good reviews and are a fraction per tire compared to the Advans.

I usually only buy the front two. Having owned an AWD EVO and Ralliart I've been through 6 sets of tires and have had my fair share of nails and sidewall tears.

I have the same situation right too. In the winter I hit a pot hole and gashed one tire's sidewall. The other 3 tires have 2500 miles. I'm going to still buy a pair. Think of it this way. You don't need to have front and rears exact to match because the fronts will always wear out faster than the rears.

Tires should match L + R though. Which I have always done. And will continue to do with AWD cars. I have even done different brand tires too, but that was just temporary and I don't recommend that.

This may actually be a good question for a dealership. If you cant get an answer from a Mitsu dealership I would call another brand dealer that sells a good amount of AWD cars and ask them what they suggest. Or at least get it documented that you called your dealership asking them this question, that way if they give you the ok to get just the one tire, they can fork up if anything goes wrong.

Good idea, only ****ty part is 2 Advans cost almost as much as 4 of the ventus v12s.

Honestly, if AWD cars required all tires being changed when one went flat wouldnt that seem to be a hotter topic on this forum? You could have tires on for 5 minutes, get a flat, put another full set on, get another flat, and so on. Someone just doesnt seem right about having to replace all 4 tires, that may be a myth. I am thinking as long as the tires are the same size and of the same compound, then the smaller details like tread depth, which dont seem to matter anyway, would be fine. You said yourself that your tread depths varied throughout the car, so you should be fine as long as size and compound are the same. Still interested to hear someone really explain why all four tires need to be replaced/what it would actually ruin?
