Wheel Lock Broke
Wheel Lock Broke
The stupid key to my wheel lock broke. The middle cracked and pieces fell out.
here is the real problem. I have 3 of my snow wheels and tires on, and 1 of my stock one. They are all locked on, so I cant switch them 100%. The stock is the 215/45/18 and my snow are 205/60/16. When i place the snow on top of the stock they look just about the same size. is it safe to drive about 1 mile to local tire shop for them to break it off? I really dont have a choice at this point other than to get towed. I tried hammering a socket on and it just spins. I even bought the craftsman set of lug removers and they just dont work.

It should be fine. Though, I've never had an issue with the lugnut removing sockets before.
Actually, I removed my wheel locks with them. When I first bought the car, the dealer never gave me the key.

yeah i dont know. none of them really fit right. one was just a tad too big and it didnt bite into it enough, the other was a tad too small and wouldnt go over it. maybe the set i got was junky or something but im tired of dealing with it. ive been trying all friggin day to remove it.
go back to your dealership and see the service department...
if its an OEM mitsu wheel lock they have a case of spares for all the wheel lock patterns that come in the mitsu wheel lock kits, and they should replace it for free
well at least my dealership did

what size socket did you use?
make sure its a 12pt and slightly smaller than the lock itself. I've done it a bunch of times and works like a charm. Also make sure you really hammer it on there.
