I dont have personal experience with the BC Racing coils, They do have extenders as an added advantage over the HSD coilovers. So thats the advantage for BC. I cant comment on the ride or performance of the BC, havent tested it on our Ralliart project car yet.

The one generalized recommendation I will make is to start with upgrading the coilovers first. Regardless of what brand you choose. That will be your largest gain in performance. Swaybars and other bolt up suspension / chaissis upgrades will help you tweak and fine tun the bahaviour of the car. Coilovers alone should give you a commanding level of performance. I dont want to rate all coilovers the same. They are not. But I do not think you will be going off the path of performance if you opt for the one of the coilovers discussed here. Your goal would be to improve upon the OEM shocks and springs.

HSD coilovers have a 8K front and 6K Rear Spring rate. HSD has a valving characteristic which is different from most. So one of the common things you will read from the reviews on the net is that they are very comfortable on the street but can perform very well on the track. The only definitive plus that I am certain of with HSD overall is that they have an extended service life vs. what you typically get on the market.

The only thing for me is the drop. When I'm not at the track or doing other stuff with it, I need it closer to normal height. The previous owner did lower it but I can't go up my drive because the drop was 2". The reason for the other suspension stuf is because I would like to get it all done at once. I want to use the car for autox a couple of times per month. So the first thing I want to do is the suspension and get that fully over and done with. Then the transmission cooler and muffler. More to follow on that. Was thinking of starting a project forum for my car once I actually start the first process.

I know the Tein Flex is almost full height of the regular ralliart setup, so it's a consideration but I also heard of all the good stuff with HSD and BC coilover for track condition. Im emailing HSD to find out the adjustments of the coilovers for the ralliart.

Do you have part numbers for the HSD coilovers? Their website (international and Canadian) only list coilovers for the Evo X and the previous generation Lancer, not the CY4A chassis the RA and current Lancers use.

Great info, the only thing I don't know, that I would like to know is the drops in the HDS and BC coil overs. I know the Tein Flex will go from stock height to a really low drop. Right now, till I get a daily driver, I would like to keep the car stock or with little drop due to the area I live in. My car was bought from another owner and I currently can't go up my drive way and it has the Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs Kit.

I would not even mind looking at the Ralliart KW, DT1, and DT2

I'm making calls also, but if anyone knows or has any recommendations.

Again, Daily Driver and hopefully soon some Auto X Racing.

Wrong thread. You are talking about springs, this is talking about coilovers.

If you read what I posted on this discussion is that I currently have springs and I want coilovers. Not all coilover bring the car close normal height. The only coil over I can find the information is the Tien Flex Coilovers which has

Max Ride Height Adjustment Range (in.)
Front -1.1
Rear -0.7

Ralliart HSD, BCm KW, DT1, and DT2 are all coilovers and was wondering what are the height adjustments on them for the ralliart.

I want a small drop now but the ability to drop it lower when I need too.
I heard the BC has extenders but not sure what that is. When I have time wil will try to contact some of the companies. Again, I am looking at coilovers.

Long story short, Mitsubishi did not allow open access to the rear strut towers, so when you installed rear coilovers, you had no way of reaching in there and adjusting the dampening. Extenders are used in this situation to give you that ability to adjust the dampening force of the shock.

BC has this. For a guy who is going to play with it often, its great. To the average guy, he may not ever use them. Depends on the type of driver and use of the car.

Great,
I was wondering what the extenders was for. I drive the car to it's limit daily, but again I want to do Auto X with it in the future. BC sounds like great coil overs.

I found the drop for the KW

KW COILOVERS clubsport - i like the range but to expensive for me. $3800

Lowering Adjustment Ranges inch:
Front: 0.9-2.0
Rear: 0.9-2.0

Springrates lbs/inch:
Front: 570
Rear: 455

KW COILOVERS variant 2 - $1900 - The drop starts off to low for me. My car current drop is 1.7 front and back and I scratch going up my drive way :-(

Lowering Adjustment Ranges inch:
Front: 1.5-2.5
Rear: 1.2-2.5

Now to try to find information on the BC coil overs. I did call them and had to leave a message. I love the price of them so hopefully they meet my requirement!

Question

????

Ok now I read this.
The springrates on BC Coilovers can be customized to your specifications for no additional charge. They can go 2k above, or 2k below the stock rates before they will need a custom revalve. A custom revalve is free, but takes approximately 3 weeks to ship out.

Any recommendations? I'm going to have to look this up even more.
