Running 17 inch wheels are perfectly fine. Just make sure the bolt pattern fits and there is enough offset to clear the brake calipers. Also, since you are going to a smaller wheel, you need a larger sidewall to compensate in order to maintain accurate speedometer readings. google search 'tire size calculator' to get an idea of what size tire you should be going for. If it were me, I would go for +35-40 offset on an 8-9 inch wide wheel with 235/45/17 tires. That would work with minimal issues (yet still be aggressive) and I don't think you would need to roll fenders at stock height with those specs.

And you should really drop it low if you use a performance/low profile tire or it will have stoopid wheel well gap

What is the reason you are going 17"?

This will help guide discussion...

245/45r17 is almost exactly the same diameter as the stock tires. It's what I'm running now. If you're worried about fitment and rolling fenders, stick with a 17x8 wheel and somewhere around +45 offset

Me too!

I found that five spoke RX-8 fit, Mazda3 and 6 fit us well.

The Nissan (350z) 6 spoke does not

Tire rack had sevral 5 spoke for us (the one i liked was out of production but check again) and search Konig too (i went with Konig Airstrike...)

you can also look at wheels listed for the EvoX as options. Though, for a very large portion of those wheels you may need to roll your rear fenders to make work.

The hub and bolt pattern are the same? 5x114.3 and 67.1 IIRC?

RX7 wheels used to be a really popular choice for Evo VIII and IX guys looking for a lightweight wheel for drag racing on a budget, so I'm sure those will work. Not sure about the others, though within a company, they usually tend to keep things similar

I went the same way, found a good deal on 2nd hand OZ Ultraleggeras 17x8 ET 45, and since the fitment guide on this forum indicated they'll be a perfect fit I went with them. Tires are 235/45 R17.

I made a test fitting, but they look like they're poking out way too much in the front? Might be that the car/shocks haven't settled in after I raised the car, but it still looks weird and now I'm concerned about the fitment. I tried to take a pic from exactly above the wheel, what do you guys think?

That doesn't look like a 45 offset wheel to me. That looks like it sticks out the same as my 245 tire on 8.5 +30 wheels. I'd venture to guess it looks like a 25 offset.

Yea no way those are ET45.

There should be a marking on the inside of the wheel, usually on one of the spokes.
