dry rotting

Hello,
I was curious if anyone else ever had issues with their OEM tires dry rotting between the treads? Noticed other day tires had dry rot basically in between treads all the way around on both front tires, just between one set of treads. I still have tread left on tires, only have 18k miles on them.
Took it too dealer and service manager said they don't deal with tires and I would need to go to a place that deals with Yokohama's. He said I should be okay since I still have tread left, but would recommend to get them replaced. I just find it odd that they are dry rotting in same spot on two tires in same section.
I had a alignment done past Friday and had bad camber/toe, and so I thought it that was the cause, but manager said it looked like dry rot, which is good for me, make it easier to claim bad tires if still under warranty. Issue I face is getting some place to file a claim to Yokohama, never had to deal with this issue before and if still under warranty I hope it won't be difficult?

Probably not dry-rot but belt separation. It could have been exacerbated by the bad alignment.

You will get (if lucky) a pro-rated settlement on new tires. Consider just driving the old ones (and periodically inspect them for condition) and just getting better tires next time...

Ya, I was planning on getting some tires for winter soon, I got lucky last year and only snowed twice so used summer tires. Ideally like to get dedicated snow tires on oem rims, but don't think I can afford to get new rims/tires anytime soon. So, I'd almost just like to get some performance all-seasons, since I really don't do any track racing just spirited runs on occasion. Any who, thanks for input. I'd like to run on these tires for as long as I can safely before having to buy anything yet.

this my exact issue. My car failed inspection for this reason. I'm not able to drive it. Cops told me if they catch me again they will tow it. Needless to say I'm not driving it till resolved. Then Fair tire is going to inspect it for pro rating or warranty. I have 24,000.

I haven't come to that problem with inspection yet, and I'll end up getting new tires, very soon(probably in next week). As of now all 4 tires have the exact same tire separation in the same spots. Tread depth is low, but okay, however; for just peace of mind I'm just going to replace them now. Would of hoped tires would last longer than 20k miles, but don't appear so.

What kinds of cops and inspections do you have out there? That sounds worse than the California horror stories.
