Question Smells like burning or rotting eggs

Hey guys,
recently when i've been starting up my car and letting it warm up for 5-10 mins i've noticed that its smells like rotting eggs or burning. Same with when the cars cooling down and i'm about to shut it off.
My brother says that its sulfer build up in my cat. He says that it isn't good sign, specially for a new car like this. I've only recently hit 5000 miles and its been garaged for winter?

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated
thanks

yeah i forgot to check any older treads

Yeah my cars stock at 5k miles
I've been recently going to Mobile and filling up on 93 octane
Before not too long ago i use to fill up on 94 octane at sunoco, but they stopped the 94 for some reason...
But yeah i'll try a different gas station before sayin anthing to the dealer.

A rotten egg smell usually means your Catalitic converter is on the way out.

go to the dealer and get it fixed because as the cat degrades its gonna restrict your exhaust flow and take a load of power away.

It's probably the burn off smell that happens to every EVO... All the coatings and such are heating up and burning... It's normal... Now if you smell it right after driving really hard, then it's probably the cat...

I have 1800 miles and mine smells "goofy" to. Most likely nothing to worry about. When I had my 2002 Civic, it would smell the same too. Must be the gas.

wait i've driven in cars that have no cats and they still get the rotten egg smell and i've always been told its the cat, but how does that happen with no cat?, or is that mean the cat is givin more of the smell and without the cat theres much more smell

If youve ever smelled a go cart or a lawn mower, thats what a car smells like without a cat, or at least thats what mine smells like.

I have smelled the sulfur smell before on my evo when i did have a cat and i smelled it on my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer which was a lemon. It could be the gas around here or it could mean that there was something wrong with both cats

if you guys are running catless or atmosphere vented wastegates it will smell like rotten eggs/ sulfer whatever you wanna call it. if you are smelling it on a stock car... i'd have to either ask if your waste gate is atmospherically vented or if you are losing your cat, but then again it could just be alotta the other things that people have mentioned. but as far as go karts and modded cars exhaust fumes smell like that.

I just picked mine up from the dealer. I had to re enter the traffic(55mph),at a stop, going left(Shot the gap),Punched it, car was floored, drifted right in, well more like slided in, not on purpose, however I pulled it off, and right after it smelt like rotten eggs, this was the first. Why?

My GSX smelled like that also and came to find out that the gasket between my o2 housing and exhaust was blown. Also made a deep sound like an outborad motor on a speed boat.
