ECU Flash Question

Hey Guys,

So I took my car in to get both recalls done yesterday, as well as a "periodic inspection". He said since I changed my oil at 3k miles disregard it and he said he "reset" the light. What are the chances he flashed the ECU back to stock? I don't want to ask him, then he would know what to look for next time I bring it in and he would flash it back. FYI: I got an ECU tune from Bryan at GST Motorsport; highly recommended for anyone on the west coast.

Thanks

heres the word in the dealers... and mod friendly dealers you can bolt on any mods you want... and it will not void your warranty because you can always bolt on the stock stuff... but if you F with the ecu they have a flash count... and the mitsu scan tools will tell it how manytime it has be flashed and if they really wanna be a dick the can even probe more and find out what has been changed... and then they will tell you your ecu has be played with and they can either be nice and just reflash fix your problem or not even tell you and just fix the problem and load a void warranty flash in it and once thats there your done!!! then again thats what my tuner friendly dealer tech told me...

+1, that was my plan, to buy a second ecu and just swap it everytime i would run to the dealer, except that they are way to expensive!

The ECU can't simply be swapped in and out like that. My understanding is that the car and the ECU need to be reassociated after something like that, and you can't do that without a dealer tech.

The VIN needs to be programmed and the anti theft chip in the key has to be paired back with the ECU.

Sounds like he just reset the service indicator.

If my suspicions are right about our ECUs then they are going to be the same as the cobalt ECUs.

1. Track how many times the car has been flashed ( up to 100 flashes)
2. what the flashes where
3. the miles on the ECU ( so you cant just swap back and forth with another ECU)

but chevy is such a d1(k about because they sell there own flash for 1000.

thats why im going to get an extended warranty throw another company.
