Everyone now and then when I am reversing out of my drive way or parking spot, it sounds like a glass bottle bumping around on the road. What is this noise?

And no, I am not hitting a glass bottle and no I don't have one tied to the back of my car.

 

is there one tied to the front? lol just kidding, i have no idea sorry.

i have also had this happen to me except it was not in reverse i was making a right turn but it only happened once

 

I hear a "cling" every I start going backward....sounds more like 2 pieces of metal hitting each other....i think somebody mentioned it;s the clutch engaging in R or something like that....

Well at least I know its normal as it seems since so many people are hearing the same thing.

At first I thought something was hitting underneath as I backed out of my driveway, but then I started noticing it sometimes backing out of parking spaces.

Ill probably ask the dealer about it next time I am in just for the hell o fit.

 

i put my car in R 10 time today to see what your hearing... but no luck.... it engage like hot knife cutting butter... sorry cant help

 

I think I have heard somehting also, to me it sounds mechanical, like a solenoid or other auto-mechanical switch. If you listen carefully you'll hear a lot going on in this car. None of it has sounded wrong to me.

 

maybe you have run over Mr Glass (from unbreakable) and he is stuck and can't get out...

 

if you guys park on a hill and go from park to reverse, it is the abs engaging.

 

yes thats what i noticed to i was parked down hill but had to reverse a little to get out of a parking spot and heard it. CLING!!!
