Has there been any progress in turning on "S-Sport" for our cars or is there actually a mechanical difference between the Evo and RA that doesn't allow that? Sorry if this has been covered in another thread. I've searched multiple posts and forums looking for the answer and have run across the question but never the solution. You guys are doing fantastic work!!

Thanks for the reply! Was kind of hoping for an "easy button" option. I had spotted a post on another forum from Bryan that had shown the S-sport SST mapping in a ECU format. Then, with richard porting over the evo x sst maps into the "blend," I was hoping we had stumbled onto big brother X's **** stash. SCHWIINNG!!!

On a MR with stock 245/40/18 tires:
5th at 3500 rpm: 65.8mph
6th at 3500 rpm: 85.5mph
On a RA with 245/40/18 tires:
5th at 3500 rpm: 67.4mph
6th at 3500 rpm: 90.7mph
So yes you are right, RA has taller gearing, if using the same tires.
On a RA with stock 215/45/18 tires:
5th at 3500 rpm: 67.2mph
6th at 3500 rpm: 90.3mph
So basically the same.

This morning I was sitting in traffic waiting turn and when I hit the gas the engine roared and I went no where. After the rpms dropped it engaged and I was able to move again. I've had this happen before in reverse and just after cold starting but just attributed it to being cold. Oh yeah, forgot to add I was rollin' in sport-manual. I know it's kind of a thread jump but was wondering if it could be tune related.
I HAVE had it do funny things when rolling to a near-stop in 2nd, then manually downshifting to 1st, and applying light throttle thereafter. It then sometimes can't decide if it really wants to do 1st or not... it revs up a partially engaged 2nd, blunders around for a bit, then finds 1st.
I just tweaked the latest "Balance" beta to reflect the 2011 stock-map light-throttle/low-rpm style SST tables. Those differ markedly from my native 2009 SST tables. Indeed, exporting my style over to the 2011 caused lurchy fun for 'em (sorry, beta guys
). I wonder if the 2011-like values will have improved this longstanding erratic 2nd/1st selection, when rolling super-slow. I'll have to try it out again.

It did the flashing "R"everse emblem again this morning while leaving for work. It was only for a moment until it seated in. I have since flashed back to stock and dropped her off at the dealership. They have yet to duplicate the reverse issue. On a side note, the service manager has seen the blinking reverse before on a ralliart that was flooded. Appearantly there is a control module under the shifter that could be at fault. Unfortunately with no trouble codes (strange how that happened???
) they are confused on how to progress. The current plan seems to be just keep trying to repeat the failure.

Flashing R is completely normal behavior. It has to do with which shaft the R is on relative to starting the car (w/ 6th IIRC). It has to change shafts, so the flashing R is saying "wait a tick".
Mine did this heaps - until I changed my "bad" habit of taking my foot off the brake before engaging reverse. The SST hates any microscopic movement when trying to go from P to R.
IIRC, "Park" is really the SST deliberately tying itself up in a knot using the gears, lol. It's not like an automatic with a locking pin. Excuse the vagueness - software guy here, can you tell?
The upshot is, for whatever internal reason, it's hard for the SST to go from P to R... and it needs a moment of Zen stillness to do it.So... just check your unconscious habits behind the wheel... you could be leaving the car free from brake resistance when switching to R...

First off, thanks to big Steve for loaning me his tactrix cable. I just got done testing balance 14 from Rich. The hot maps work very well. At partial throttle, car shifts up like butter, and rev matches down shifts excellent. My main goal is to test out the cold map portion of it. I should get to cold test it some tomorrow and report back.
