Just had this same warning come up in my 09 RA. I have 25,000 miles, give or take. I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow and i really hope i don't have the same kind of problems that saiko 84 had!
One question though, can anyone hear their timing chain on a regular basis? My car makes a clicking or rattling sound, especially when in sport mode while "engine braking". A friend of mine who is a mechanic said that its my timing chain. My car has always made that sound but i fell that it has increased over time. Now with this "timing chain may be worn" warning I'm starting to get worried. Thanks for any help.

it depends which of the warnings is actually shown. there is a specific timing chain warning indicator, which is likely due to excessive play in the chain tensioner.

if you are getting the p0012 code, its likely just a bad cam sensor and shouldnt be much of a big deal for them to replace.

Thumbs down

so im currently looking at a used 09 ralliart, 10k miles. i take it for a test drive and that same light came on so i brought it up to the dealer. They called me back and told me that if you rev the engine and turbo a number of times but dont actually drive anywhere then that light will come on. is this bogus and a sales pitch? if not than that might be a solution to the problem.

Well when I took my car to the dealership for repair it only took 1 day to fix they told me that a valve had became retardant and it was possibly from what they quoted that was open throttle for long periods of time or in there terms drag racing well I laughed at that because that it was true but the funny thing about it is that when the light did kick off I juss got back from a trip 9 hours there 9 back I guess that could be called open throttle because I had it on cruse the entire way there and back lol stupid dealership haha.................

K... Well, hello everybody.. I am new to this.. Very new... I bought an 09' used Ralliart about an month ago, and I am experiencing the same problem with my timing chain... Big check exclamation mark in triangle comes up in my car. Only had about 34K miles on the car when I bought it, and it's ben in the shop for over three weeks... It still has a warranty on it, but the time the shop is taking to repair it, is ridiculous.. Ben without a car, and having to bumm rides frm people for about a month now... I am jus really hoping that I get my car back pretty soon...

Get them to authorize a loaner or rental car, 3 weeks is just unacceptable to be without a car. That is why you buy new ones, so they aren't always in the shop.

my ralliart just poped the stupid triangle light with the !, i looked in the manual and it states that it's the timing chain... I do have an ECU reflash and a turbo back exhaust, should i reflash to stock prior to taking it in? what do u guys think? I just don't want to pay the guy to reflash it...

better paying ur tuner for the reflash than having the dealership find out u had it flashed and them voiding it and making u paying for the part. then again ur flash count goes up so either way they could find out if they really wanted to
