Hard 2nd gear knock

Two times in the past 5 days I have gotten this hard shift into 2nd gear. The first time it happened the car was in auto under normal mode and I was simply driving slowly looking for a parking space in a parking garage, and it happened as the car slowed to take a turn on a down shift. It felt like I hit something underneath the car.

The second hard shift happened while doing an aggressive accelerating using sport mode and manual shifting. Again another loud thump but once it was into 3rd no issues just a momentary slow shift from 1st to 2nd and the thud was all.

What is this? All this happened after my fuel pipe recall work but I have read this happen with the EVO X folks too. The care is just over 8000k at this point.

How long after starting up the car was it when it happened the second time? The one where cruising the parking area I can relate to because it has happened once or twice before. I wasnt to worried though. I know for a fact that just after starting the car and driving it you have to baby it until it warms up.

The second time was definitely when the car was cold. That makes sense. But the first time the car was warm. Not sure if it is totally engine temperature related.

Get the AWC Reflash, there is a TSB for it and you are in the listed States. Have them look this up SC-09-002
Mine used to act "Klunky" at low speeds too, until the reflash.
