For people with custom/basetunes

Do you guys flash back to stock when you go into the dealer for recalls or oil changes and such?

If you guys don't flash back to stock before you go in, do the dealer flash it back to stock?

Also there was a way to clear the ECU history by turn it the car on/off a couple times... Anyone no the exact way of clearing the ECU history manually like that?

Thanks

No i don't flash back to stock for any trip to the dealership which so far have been recalls and oil change/tire rotation. My dealership doesn't really car about bolt-ons so its cool, your however may differ. Just call and ask and obviously don't give your name lol

I don't think that's a good idea... There's only a handful of ralliarts in town and I've never seen another ralliart in town yet... But I guess I have to ask...

Another stupid question.. What happens when I disconnect the battery? It's ok after right? No need to reflash?

I just have the pill and GST tune but I think I am going to pull it out and flash back to stock before I go in for my recalls next week. When I bought the car I asked about mods and warranty and the salesman told me about a guy that bought an evo and got it tuned at AMS with some other stuff done and he said there were no problems with warranty and he seemed pretty cool with it. So I might just ask him and see what he says. But ultimately I think it's up to the service department/Mitsu when it comes down to claiming.

i would flash back to stock if at all possible. just because. what if the tsb or recall calls for a updated rom for your ecu? they will overwrite your tuned rom. now if it was a gst base flash no prob. but if it was a custom tune and you didn't backup your rom file which I would advise doing. then your SOL.

and yes you won't lose your ecu tune if you disconnect the battery. ROM is nonvolatile. meaning it won't lose whats written to it.

Also thought about this if they overwrote your tune then took it for a test drive for whatever reason. I would guess boostpill + stock tune would arise all sorts of questions from them.

Thanks guys for the replies.
I hope my dealer is nice enough to say yes.
I guess they would get that question a lot since it's a mitsu and subaru dealer in one building.

exactly. i'll be putting in my boost pill and base flash shortly. once weather warms up some. i plan on getting a 2nd boost harness to install the pill in and just swap on the non pill unit and flash back to stock when i go in just to be safe.

Yeah I think I'm gonna do that as well.
Just swapping out the harness would be a lot easier.

I'm going to put the boost pill tomorrow and see how much difference it makes

That's what I've been doing when I go in to the dealer for recalls.

I've rolled in with a ams exhaust and high flow cat, GST boost pill and flash, HKS drop in, 6k HID's, Yellow fogs and 18" rota torques. "My Dealer" doesn't mind that much. It's probably not until turbo pipes and intercooler. Exhaust is so minor and the flash is so hard to detect that you can remove all your parts and keep the flash and they wouldn't know without going into the fuel cells.
