TC-SST Failure. Imporant! ****POLL****
TC-SST Failure. Imporant! ****POLL****
I know i started the other thread about everyone's TC-SST but i just figured how to make a poll myself haha so here we go. I think this would be helpful to see the extent of the problem. Some have said they think that mitsu should issue a recall, other argue it's not a safety or emissions problem so they can't etc... what do you guys think!
I would have liked to add these to the polls but i cant edit now ...
*Replaced, still has problems*
*Replaced without problems*

Then let us know what mods you have on your car... maybe explain your problem assuming you have one. And how the dealer is treating, dealer name.
THIS THREAD IS A Contribution to jazket since I thought it was a very important issue he brought up, that said, this thread is just to help get some numbers for him0=)

Mine is fine so far, but I'm not running too much power and I baby the transmission whenever possible (i.e. avoiding putting it into situations that cause jerky gear shifts).

I discussed this on the other thread also could it possibly be that the high power users are not replacing the clutch/flywheel/clutch plate. Thess are small parts that change alot.
I mean you don't think that a Stock Car or a Indy has a consumer model tranny setup. DO YOU?
Now I am not talking about assembly line defects that happen I mean if 5 out 100,000 sold break and 3 are on this site it seems like alot.

Mine is great other than when i accidentally blip the throtttle and it confuses the TCU. I've never had a problem with that before in any auto so it's a learning experience. Oh and the clunky, jerky, auto downshift from 2nd to 1st while stopping .

My trans basically stalls and doesnt catch when i down shift to 1st gear when even at a complete stop. pushing the gas the trans feels weird and the car moves very slowly until i release the gas and reapply the gas. Sometimes i get a hard knock.
Replaced at 24,000 miles. Both clutches started slipping out of nowhere with absolutely no warning while on the highway with cruise control on. Both sets went out at the same time.
All true but no answered my question.
Although I by the time I start downshifting to first the car has already done so.
I don't plan on putting 60k miles on my car so it will probably be payed off befor it breakes.

When accelerating from a stop at about 50% throttle, I have an occasional "clunk" noise...it sounds like thumping a glass bottle. It doesn't always happen when I start from a complete stop, either. If I'm crawling along, say 15mph in 2nd-gear sport-manual mode, and I step on the gas, I can sometime hear it then, too.
