HKS or Works filter

Having a hard time deciding which one to go with. I live back a dirt road and worry that the HKS won't filter the dust as well as the Works. Anyone else drive on dirt roads daily with the HKS and have no problems?

Yeah thought about k&n also. Kinda wanted HKS but thought it wouldn't filter as good as the works or k&n. Might go with the work.

Also anyone have any experience with the go fast bits stealth BOV? Thinking bout getting one. Found one for $235 shipped.

I would say this as well since they are cleanable

do you have any other mods?
are you planning on getting a tune?
from what I understand you shouldn't get a bov unless you remove the MAF and get a tune, otherwise your car will run like dog turd

You cannot remove the MAF the car will not run. You do not need a tune to swap out the BOV if you get a recirculating valve at least 50/50, some people seem to be running full VTA without any problems too.

I thought you could if you ran a MAP sensor?
I forgot about the 50/50's, it will run better with that than a VTA
I don't know, VTA's just don't seem to be worth it IMO

Have you considered a Cosworth filter? i live in the desert and used to go through filters like crazy and constantly cleaning k&n. the cosworth has been pretty good for me so far. i liked k&n but after seeing the inside of my maf on my evo i decided to no longer use an oil based filter

I've done some looking into this and my opinion is as follows:

K&N: The fact its an oiled filter might provide problems with the MAF and stuff

HKS: Doesn't filter enough

Cosworth : pretty good filter, and if I'm not mistaken it can be run dry - meaning no oiling

I was kinda worried about the oil myself that it may pose problems down the road. I kinda want the works but the cosworth is appealing too.

Went ahead and got the GFB Stealth BOV be here Monday or Tuesday!

LOL,

THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE OIL on a k&n filter... As long as you dont OVER OIL it and allow it time to properly dry.

i ran a k&n in my 09 gts for 20k miles with 0 problems until i went to an injen cai. now my brother has the k&n in h is 08 lancer and has had it in there for 42k miles...he also has had 0 problems.

I would go with k&n or works over HKS (HKS is a one time use filter)

im happy with the cosworth sound. its probably comprable to most perf. filters. it helped amplify the sound of the turbo a little and you can hear the suction of the intake box more. and yes it is a dry filter, no oil.
