I upgraded to the evo x fmic and I plan on keeping it when I upgrade to the Evo X turbo. I will change it when I goto FP RED or BBX.

 

The Ultimate Racing intercooler is on 10 or so cars around here. Its a massive core, looks great, and cools like a mid feburary day in canada. Its not needed in my opinion on the stock turbo, but will be needed moving upward.

 

Look at it this way.

Stock RA FMIC - a heater after ripping it in one gear.

Evo x fmic - a intercooler that can cool the charge for a while but can still have heatsoak. $100-$200 for 10hp = $10-$20 per hp. Might need a new one if you continue upgrading or racing a lot.

Aftermarket fmic - a better intercooler that probably won't heatsoak. $600-$800 for 10-20hp which is $30-$40 per hp. Also, you won't need to upgrade it anymore.

 

I have the UR FMIC. The fitment and the quality is top notch. I don't know about the gains since I never tested it. If you search around there's a post that I did and with some pictures on it.
