spark plugs

well after a nice long day of freaking myself out, wondering why everytime i got into her my car was seeing 16 knock sum around 5000 and adjusting my timing to absurd numbers almost 0 in some cases , i decided to pull the plugs

found #1 wrecked , 2, 3,4 fine. well answered my questions why its been meh as of late

needless to say!!!!!! YOUR AVERAGE parts store does not carry these plugs in stock, nor do they have any information in their system

atm i have a 19mm long plug instead of a 26.5 which of course is not working!!!!,

all i have to say is

get a spare set ordered and while your at get the evo stock plugs

ilkr7e6 suck for even stock
ilkr8e6 well its better than stock, but evo guys complain about them too

R2556B-9 is where its at, i run race plugs in my cobalt but at 42.50 a plus a little bit on the extreme side

HKS M45XL(i believe they are DENSO's) seem to be nice im going to a -9 plug so maybe , just maybe i can get my car running properly again

Really so the bad spark plug was causing that much knock? I am getting at the very most 2-4 knock, not consistently but enough to get my attention. How many miles do you have on your RA, cant be that many with it being a '10?

as soon as i changed plugs today i was able to get my knock under control

im around the 11000 km mark, but lately ive been pushing my tune and i know what happened to the plug was retuning for my new piping i had a lean spot around 5k and i blew my #1 plug out either way though. I strongly believe these plugs are garbage for heat range -9's are nice which hopefully ill be getting this week

-9's?! wow that seems a little extreme. what kind of EGT's are you getting? i went from -6 to -7 in my old car when i upgraded turbos. maybe it's a gapping issue that you're blowing out the spark?

gapping was .34 i believe id have to check the book, but i run -9's on my 21 psi twincharge balt and was perfect granted it was pushing more,

even the evo's are running -9's and considering there -8's from factory and guys curse them

aren't ILKRE's iridium? i'd never run iridium plugs on a turbo car! stupid manufacturers... lots of forums i've read go copper over everything else. my friend has race plugs in his 300whp 4AGTE and they foul all the time daily driving. they're gapped to .25 too i believe. 0.36 doesn't sound bad at all though. i'm going to guess it's the Iridium plugs giving you the problems, but that's from second-hand information...

i dont like irridium either but some people are now switching to them. though ive heard lots of horror stories of guys cracking the ceramic and dropping the whole metal arc into the piston and blowing the motor sooo yah....

-9 is a warmer plug is it not? our stock plugs should be 8's... so you might lose some fuel economy and the ability to run a few more degrees of timing by going to a 9.

A .30 gap on a -7 plug would offer the best tunability, if you could find it in a copper plug.
