New Tune

Updated to this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/09...ml#post8631652

Just got back from Tobz Tuning in Denver, CO. My car has a drop in K&N air filter as far as mods go and we really only get 91 octane gas at the pumps anymore. Tobz did some tuning and we tried with and without the AMS boost pill. The AMS boost pill allowed Tobz to do more with the amount of boost and that lead to a better tune. He was able to get some good torque numbers but believes the factory intake and FMIC are holding it back in the HP area.

The biggest difference in driving it is that power comes on early and stays on for a long time. The top numbers (as many have said before) do not tell the whole story. The power curve is way different than stock and it just wants to pull earlier and keep pulling longer. It's also made it easier to drive in city traffic since the car has to shift less (score!). In fact, he uncovered my car was having bad knock over 5,000rpm and the tune fixed that as well.

The correction factor on the dyno was either 1.22 or 1.23 which would put the actual numbers at the wheels around:

Stock:
HP: 192-194 hp
Torque: 219-221 ft/lbs

Adding Pill + Tune:
HP: 204-206 hp
Torque: 275-277 ft/lbs
Boost: 19 peak tapering to 16.5 (not sure if the correction factor applies to these but if it did this is what it would be)

Thanks to GST for helping me understand these numbers better since it's the first time I've had a car on a dyno.

Correction factor would be nice to post as 340wtq at 23psi on the stock turbo, espically with basically no mods, is roflcopter status...

The actual curves look about right for a RA with a good tune. Enjoy the tune!

Yeah, your horsepower number is within reason for a tune with just a drop in filter, but your torque number is completely out of whack and not possible without significant mods to the car.

The correction factor is 1.22/1.23 if I remember correctly and I'm sorry if you don't believe it. I'm going off of what the mustang dyno kicked out when he was done. His shop is roughly 5,400ft above sea level and it was in the 90's (temp wise) when we started. This was tuned on 91Oct gas. If you need more information then you'll have to talk to Tobz (his number is in the attached dyno sheet).

I've attached the full dyno sheet to the first post now as well.

Ok so at 1.23 correction the car actually made 204whp / 275wtq in reality and while you drive down the street.

I feel for you high altitude guys, it really kills the horsepower and the super small stock turbo on the RA doesn't help.

Again, enjoy the tune!

So your saying with just a boost pill and K&N your getting 251hp/339trq with just a drop in and boostpill? hmm maybe I should add the boost pill to the least

yup...high altitude and no easy access to 93 octane kills us out here. In addition to the other things he fixed the knocking it had at 5,000rpm and up. He cut the first dyno run short due to that. It's not there now so woohoo!!!! Overall I'm very happy and the car finally has some power down low for city driving. ...... I can't wait for the weekend to take it into the mountains and play...

GST I just wanted to know, is it be a better means of buying this than an electronic boost controller?

The boost pill? Yes it's a great addition to the factory system (when tuned properly)

No need for a EBC, the factory ECU already has a robust fully tunable EBC built in.

lol roflcopter status indeed. Our car makes around 230 240 ft lbs stock. There is no way on gods green earth this car is making close to 340 torque. you need alot more flow then you can get to achieve that.
