hey guys, i noticed some sounds from my car idk if its just me being paranoid but does this sound normal to you guys? u can hear ticking and much deeper sound when i move the camera toward the back of the engine.Im getting worried cause i have a feeling this isnt good and i never really went hard on this car. I bought this car used with 12k idk if the previous owner beat it up but i surely havent.

 

Mine makes the lower pitched "knocking" sound also and from everything I've read, it's normal.

 

idk it still freaks me out lol, its also a headache cause i just installed my parts and flashed, so now i gotta take everything off and go back stock just to have mitsu look at it, which is why i posted this hear to see if anyone had the same sound. if u have that same sound thats good but what about the other weird soundsl ike the high pitch ticking constantly?

 

i have the exact same problem; but Just a little lower knock.
Did you have that knock before you put on your AM parts and the tune?
I'm glad i'm not the only one with this stupid problem, i've been looking all over the forms trying to find a solution.

I've been to 4 different dealerships and none of them know whats wrong with it.
Its really frustrating me because the sound is horrible; what if i wanted to turn around and sell it next month? no one will buy it, when it sounds like the engine is gonna blow up.

Just so you know, its coming from the Tranny and not the engine. My dealer changed out my tranny fluid and the filter. The sound is still there

^nope.
Injectors are the ticking sounds you hear on all lancers. The clunking sound is a whole different problem.

 

slyy u made me a bit more comfortable, and yes these sounds were there before all of my mods. has ur tranny ever acted up? I've never experienced anything odd with my tranny. *knock on wood*. honestly I may just wait it out and see if I notice anything else.

 

does it go away when you turn the steering wheel?

 

I get the same sound its normal.

 

If its an uneven knocking noise from the trans at idle in neutral and park then its normal. There was a mitsu tsb explaining this posted in the SS-TTC forum. Although the TSB doesn't mention anything about noise in drive I hear it there a little too.

When I get my ACD reflash done I'm going to say something to the dealer (especially about drive) just to hear what they say.

An informal poll might be nice. Post up if your trans knocks in neutral/park or drive.

 

The ticking sound you are refering to are the lifters not injectors

 

I never tried it but I will in the morning on my way out. and I never noticed the sound in drive but I noticed the clicking sounds alot more in drive when I'm sitting at a light

 

The tranny hasn't acted up yet *knock on wood*
I was thinking the same thing, just wait it out and see what happens. If anything does happen; i hope its before the warranty is done

I'm gonna try do the turn the steering wheel thing in the morning. Also going to see if its still clunking in park, neutral and drive.

 

I must be blind but is the TSB in the EVO X sub form? i can't seem to find it.
